Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Esports Coach & Party Host to lead competitive gaming sessions, provide coaching, and create a fun, engaging atmosphere for events and parties. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about esports and is enthusiastic about helping players of all skill levels improve while also creating memorable party experiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring to players in various esports titles (e.g., Super Smash Bros., Rocket League, and Mario Cart, etc.)
- Develop and implement strategies to help players improve their performance in key areas such as teamwork, gaming skills, strategy, and communication.
- Promote positive sportsmanship, inclusion and respectful behavior among participants
- Organize friendly competitions, mini-tournaments, and skill-building activities
- Assist in organizing and managing competitive tournaments or league play.
- Monitor participant behavior and enforce YMCA policies and expectations
- Plan and host esports-themed parties and events, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all attendees.
- Set up gaming stations, assist guests with equipment, and facilitate friendly competitions or casual play during parties.
- Manage the party timeline and adapt to the needs of the group, providing customer service and ensuring all guests have an enjoyable experience.
- Assist with event setup, cleanup, and coordination with other staff
- Create a lively atmosphere through positive engagement, encouraging participation, and promoting a fun environment.
- Coordinate with parents, guardians, or event organizers to ensure all requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
- Assist with program planning, scheduling, and attendance tracking
- Report any equipment issues or incidents to supervisors promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of gaming and program spaces

Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
- In-depth knowledge of major esports titles, including mechanics, strategy, and competitive scenes.
- Experience coaching players or leading esports teams is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with players of all ages and skill levels.
- Ability to manage group dynamics and lead events with enthusiasm and energy.
- Customer service experience, especially in event hosting, is a plus.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Passion for gaming and esports and a desire to foster a positive gaming community.
- CPR/First Aid Certification within 6 months
- Ability to respond to safety and emergencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- The ability to demonstrate exercises and fitness-related movements. This includes but is not limited to: lifting dumbbells, pressing weight overhead, pressing weight with legs, sitting/laying on the floor, standing, jumping, and running.
- The ability to hear and speak to be heard by class participants.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
YMCA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
CPR & First Aid – Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.
Emergency Response – Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures.
Incident Management – Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.
Safe Environment – Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants.
Physical Readiness – Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
Compliance – Follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
