Job Description
Imagineeer is a fast-growing SBA 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business headquartered in Arlington, VA, delivering federal AI modernization across health, defense, homeland security, and transportation. We design, test, and deploy secure, AI-ready systems that move agencies from pilots to production without breaking governance, compliance, or mission continuity. Our Mission Studio model creates shared environments where policy, data, security, and operations come together. We are capability-driven and competitive by design, not program-dependent. Our leadership has operated inside the federal systems we now transform, bringing institutional knowledge that accelerates delivery and reduces risk. If real delivery motivates you more than slides, and you want your work to compound across programs and agencies, Imagineeer is growing and we are building the team to match.
About the role
Imagineeer is seeking a Technical Writer to own editorial quality and accessibility for every deliverable on an acquisition transformation engagement for a federal civilian department. The contract sets clear standards: a grammatical error rate of no more than one percent, consistent formatting, plain language, and Section 508/WCAG AA conformance.
You will run the second stage of the firm's two-stage quality review and support the Training Lead as the training checkpoint's supporting role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review every deliverable for grammar, consistency, formatting, and plain language before submission.
- Perform Section 508/WCAG AA accessibility checks and repeat them until no findings remain.
- Apply the client's information management requirements to deliverables, including Section 508 conformance and records and CUI marking.
- Review candidate tools' Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) to confirm documented Section 508 conformance during market research.
- Write pilot readiness materials, user guidance, job aids, and training materials.
- Finalize SOPs, templates, workflows, and user guidance with the Acquisition SME and Policy and Business Process Lead.
- Work within configuration control so every draft and revision is versioned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, technical writing, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of technical writing experience, including federal deliverables such as reports, plans, and SOPs.
- Working knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.x AA, and experience remediating Word and PDF documents using the Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro accessibility checkers.
- Strong command of plain-language principles and federal style conventions.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
• DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester certification.
• Experience writing user guides and job aids for enterprise software.
• Familiarity with federal acquisition terminology.
• Experience marking Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in federal documents.
