Institutional Performance Consultant in Kamloops, British Columbia at Thompson Rivers University

The Institutional Performance Consultant provides strategic oversight, analysis and coordination of activities that support institutional performance and benchmarking. The position brings together internal and external data to develop a deeper understanding of the university’s performance using employee, student and externally available data, identify emerging opportunities and risks, and provide actionable insights and advise senior leaders and university teams. Internally, the Consultant works collaboratively across academic and administrative portfolios to support data collection and analysis of institutional performance, labour market data, benchmarking, reporting and improvement strategy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages the strategic direction in the technical implementation and workflow of institutional performance, benchmarking, labour market research, and major external reporting initiatives including the planning and refining of processes and procedures, anticipation of opportunities and problem areas, analysis of resources, assessment of short and long-term goals, and consultation with and delivery of recommendations
• Analyze institutional performance across rankings, ratings, and benchmark performance against other institutions.
• Support forecasting, scenario planning, simulation, and impact analysis related to institutional performance
• As system administration lead, makes decisions about timelines, milestones, resource requirements, deliverables and effort estimation for tasks and coordinates changes in a given reporting period
• Oversees the data collection, analysis, and dissemination of institutional reports and recommends improvements to reporting processes, data quality, and outputs.
• Works collaboratively across academic and administrative portfolios to coordinate complex institution-wide projects and ensure delivery against agreed priorities
• Monitor developments and trends across the higher education sector and institutional benchmarking landscape.
• Liaises with related system vendors and internal staff regarding system issues, upgrades, and customization; and establishes system priorities as per stakeholder needs
• Provides supervision/leadership and training to IPE staff on procedures, reporting and technology, including performance evaluation

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

• University degree in a related field, master’s degree preferred
• Minimum three years related experience, including a minimum of two years of experience in analytics, reporting, market research or forecasting methodology
• Advanced knowledge of business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau and Power BI), with the ability to develop dashboards, analyze complex datasets, and communicate insights effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to use labour market and socioeconomic data sources and other relevant sources, to support market research, forecasting, benchmarking, and institutional decision-making.
• Strong data visualization and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear, compelling visuals, reports, and presentations for diverse audiences.
• Excellent project management, analytical reasoning, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise mature judgment, diplomacy and discretion
• Ability to maintain attention to detail
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
