Job Description
Precision Private Security is hiring a professional and dependable Armed Courthouse Security Officer / Security Screener for a courthouse security assignment in Tehama, California.
This position is responsible for helping maintain the safety, security, and professional operation of the courthouse. Officers assigned to this post will screen individuals entering the facility, identify prohibited items, monitor access, assist courthouse personnel and visitors, respond appropriately to incidents, and complete accurate security documentation.
This is an active, public-facing security position. Officers must remain alert, professional, respectful, and prepared to respond appropriately when security concerns arise.
Primary Responsibilities
•Screen individuals entering the courthouse for weapons, prohibited items, and other unauthorized or potentially dangerous items.
•Operate or assist with metal detectors, X-ray equipment, handheld screening devices, and other courthouse security equipment as assigned.
•Maintain a professional and visible armed security presence.
•Monitor courthouse entrances, screening areas, lobbies, hallways, exterior areas, and other assigned posts.
•Provide clear and professional instructions to courthouse visitors regarding screening and access procedures.
•Assist with access control for visitors, employees, vendors, and authorized personnel.
•Observe and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, disturbances, security concerns, and policy violations.
•Respond appropriately to emergency and non-emergency incidents.
•Communicate with supervisors, courthouse personnel, law enforcement, fire, EMS, or dispatch when necessary.
•Assist with emergency and evacuation procedures in accordance with established protocols.
•Properly handle, document, and report prohibited items according to post orders and courthouse procedures.
•Complete accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and other required documentation.
•Follow Precision Private Security post orders, courthouse procedures, company policies, and applicable laws.
Minimum Requirements
•Must be at least 21 years of age.
•Current California BSIS Guard Card required.
•Current California BSIS Exposed Firearms Permit required.
•Must be qualified for the firearm caliber carried while on duty and maintain all required BSIS firearms qualifications.
•Must provide current licensing and applicable training documentation.
•Must have completed required BSIS Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force training.
•Must maintain required BSIS security officer training and continuing education applicable to the employee's registration.
•Valid government-issued identification required.
•Reliable transportation and reliable means of communication required.
•Must successfully complete applicable pre-employment and assignment screening requirements.
•Must be available to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
•Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
•Must communicate clearly and professionally with the public, courthouse personnel, supervisors, and emergency responders.
•Must be able to prepare accurate, factual, and professional written reports.
•Must remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful or rapidly changing situations.

•At least 1 year of verifiable security experience.
•Prior courthouse, government facility, screening, access control, or institutional security experience.
•Prior armed security experience.
•Experience operating metal detectors, X-ray machines, or other screening equipment.
•Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
•De-escalation or conflict-resolution training or experience.
•Prior military, law enforcement, corrections, public safety, or first responder experience.
•Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
•Strong attendance, reliability, and professional communication skills.
Veterans, former law enforcement personnel, first responders, and experienced courthouse or government security professionals are encouraged to apply.
