The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide efficient service while maintaining exceptional customer service standards for Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre and Tim Hortons
- Manage the shift by ensuring team members are properly positioned, prepared and have the tools and products required to succeed
- Perform opening and closing duties for the outlet, including completing required checklists, counting floats, processing deposits, identifying deficiencies and correcting them
- Use positioning charts to assign primary and secondary duties for staff during each shift and follow up to ensure tasks are completed
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, promotions, product availability and operational updates
- Operate cash registers and process accurate customer payments, including payment corrections, refunds, Tbucks, meal plan payments, gift cards and all other approved payment methods
- Follow and enforce Tim Hortons standards and guidelines when preparing and serving products, including all operating guidelines for equipment
- Ensure coffee, baked goods, breakfast products, sandwiches, wraps, beverages and other menu items are prepared to Tim Hortons specifications for quality, portioning, presentation and hold times
- Train, coach and support team members to achieve and maintain Tim Hortons standards for guest service, product quality, speed of service and cleanliness
- Promote a respectful team environment and provide clear, consistent direction and performance feedback to team members
- Support employee development by identifying training needs and performance gaps and communicating concerns to Food Services management
- Complete and maintain required Tim Hortons operational programs and documentation, including Always Fresh, Coffee Call to Action, FPL, calibration, temperature logs, opening, mid-day and closing checklists, and other required brand documentation
- Monitor product availability and production levels throughout the shift and adjust production based on sales volume, daypart and forecasted demand
- Assist in finding shift coverage when staff are unable to attend work
- Schedule and coordinate meal breaks for staff on duty while maintaining appropriate outlet coverage
- Conduct inventory counts and maintain appropriate inventory levels based on par levels, sales trends, upcoming events and forecasted demand
- Place orders with approved vendors and distributors and ensure orders are accurate and appropriate for business needs
- Monitor product usage, waste and variances to identify opportunities for improved inventory control and food cost management
- Process deliveries and resolve shortages or discrepancies by completing required documentation and communicating with management for follow-up
- Maintain organized storage areas, proper stock rotation, accurate inventory records and compliance with FIFO procedures
- Maintain and enforce Tim Hortons brand standards, food safety requirements and Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre policies and procedures
- Be knowledgeable regarding Tim Hortons menus, promotions, pricing, product launches and current brand initiatives
- Communicate with Food Services management and other departments, including Building Operations, IT, Caretaking and Events, to resolve operational issues
- Ensure adherence to all food handling, health and safety standards, policies and procedures during shifts
- Identify and address hazards in real time and support incident response, documentation and follow-up
- Comply with and reinforce all applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act
- Maintain and operate Tim Hortons equipment, including coffee brewers, espresso equipment, ovens, toasters, warming equipment and other food service equipment in accordance with operating guidelines
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work and service area, including counters, tables, shelves, walls, equipment and storage areas
- Be proactive, punctual, reliable and highly organized in a fast-paced environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
The successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum 1-3 years of quick-service restaurant experience, preferably in a Tim Hortons or comparable high-volume operation
- Previous experience providing shift leadership, coaching or training to team members
- Practical knowledge of quick-service restaurant operations, including product preparation, food safety, speed of service, cleanliness and guest service
- Minimum 1 year of cash handling experience and competency using a cash register and processing accurate payments
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid and CPR
- Valid Food Handlers Certification is mandatory
- Smart Serve is mandatory
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle difficult situations and customer concerns with confidence
- Excellent leadership, organization and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time
Hours of work:
Successful candidate must be available to work shifts between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 9:30p.m..including weekends and holidays.
