GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Controller is responsible for the overall management of the accounting function, including financial reporting, month-end close, inventory accounting, cost accounting, internal controls, audit coordination, treasury support, and ERP system administration. The Controller partners closely with operations, purchasing, manufacturing, and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial information, strong internal controls, and effective decision support for a growing manufacturing organization.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES

  1. Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
  2. Manage and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  3. Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
  4. Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
  5. Oversee inventory accounting, physical inventories, cycle count programs, inventory reserves, and reconciliation processes.
  6. Manage standard costing, job costing, labor absorption, overhead allocation, and cost variance analysis.
  7. Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to improve costing accuracy and financial visibility.
  8. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  9. Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
  10. Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  11. Support banking relationships, borrowing-base reporting, covenant compliance, and cash forecasting.
  12. Provide leadership and development for accounting and finance staff.
  13. Serve as the accounting lead for ERP implementation, optimization, and ongoing system improvements.
  14. Develop KPIs and reporting tools to improve operational and financial performance.
  15. Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, efficiency, and scalability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2. Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  3. At least three years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience.
  4. Manufacturing, industrial, or distribution accounting experience.
  5. Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  6. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
  7. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. CPA designation.
  2. Experience with cost accounting and inventory-intensive manufacturing environments.
  3. Experience with ERP implementations or major ERP upgrades.
  4. MBA or other advanced business degree.

Schedule

Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Frida, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments. 

Standard Working Conditions

  1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. 
  1. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously. 
  1. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously. 
  1. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time. 
  1. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement. 
  1. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
