Job Description
Who We Are (The Honest Version)
We’ve been at this since 2007, right here in Plantation, Florida, growing into one of the leading personal auto insurers in the state — working with thousands of agents from some of the industry’s most respected agencies. Our promise is simple: auto insurance that’s actually simple, affordable, and hassle-free. We back that up with innovation, real feedback, and a genuine commitment to doing it well.
This role sits right at the intersection of customer service and underwriting — you’re often the first voice a customer hears, and the person making sure their policy is actually right. We built it that way on purpose. We’d rather have people who understand both sides of the conversation than hand customers off between departments.
If you like knowing exactly what you’re responsible for — and get real satisfaction from doing it well — keep reading.
What We Offer (Yes, It’s Real)
- Starting Pay: $50,000 (based on hourly pay) to start, plus benefits (which we think are excellent).
- Healthcare: 100% Employer-paid medical insurance along with dental, and vision, with free preventative care.
- Retirement: 401(k) with a company match.
- Time Off: Generous PTO, holiday pay, and paid sick leave.
- Wellness: Mental health support and wellness initiatives.
- Growth: Training and development in a genuinely collaborative environment.
The Role
You’ll wear two hats, sometimes in the same phone call. As a Customer Service Representative, you’re the calm, clear voice on the other end of the line. As an Underwriting Associate, you’re making sure policy changes, payments, and coverage details get handled accurately, not just quickly.
Department: Underwriting. Location: Plantation, Florida.
Your Schedule
This one has a set schedule, and we’re upfront about it: Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM, plus rotating Saturdays (one Saturday per month) from 9 AM to 1 PM. For this position, the schedule is critical (our customers look for our help into the evenings!). If that works for your life, we’d love to talk.
What You’ll Actually Do
- The Answering-the-Phone Stuff: Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries with professionalism and urgency.
- The Underwriting Stuff: Guide customers through policy updates, payments, and other underwriting-related tasks.
- The Relationship Stuff: Build lasting relationships by resolving challenges and offering solutions that actually fit the customer, not just the script.
- The Accuracy Stuff: Process policy changes correctly and spot the logical next step before someone has to ask for it.
- The Collaboration Stuff: Share insights with your team, document processes, and help make things more efficient — not just for you, for everyone.
- The Quality-Check Stuff: Review your own work, catch what needs fixing, and suggest ways to make it better.
- The Paper-Trail Stuff: Keep detailed documentation of every action and decision. If it’s not written down, it didn’t happen.
- The Everything-Else Stuff: Other duties as assigned, because no job description covers 100% of a real job
What You Bring to the Table
- Education & Experience: A high school diploma; underwriting experience is preferred, not required.
- Licensing: An active Florida 4-40 or 2-20 Resident General Lines License, or demonstrate ability to earn one within 90 days (at our expense).
- Language: Fluency in Spanish and English, written and spoken. This one’s a must, not a nice-to-have.
- Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and conflict-resolution skills, plus solid Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Mindset: Adaptable and team-oriented, with a genuine hand in keeping the work environment positive and productive.
- Availability: Comfortable working additional hours or occasional weekends when the job calls for it.
