Job Summary

Applies intermediate level knowledge of engineering principles and practices in diverse areas of assignment. Makes decisions on engineering problems and methods. Represents the department to resolve important questions. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines, including practical field experience.

Key Accountabilities

  • Applies intermediate level knowledge and background of engineering principles to natural gas facilities including but not limited to; large scale amine treating plants, dehydration plants, compressor stations, and preferably processing plants.
  • Assists with developing, coordinating and directing critical projects and field engineering assignments
  • Provide analysis, design, specification and cost estimates for natural gas treating/processing plants
  • Develop scope of work, manage bid process and facility design/construction
  • Optimize existing plants by gathering operational data and working through plant simulations
  • Review and assess new technology, processes, materials and equipment
  • Frame engineering/operational problems and propose solutions
  • Monitor and support engineering related activities as related to field construction projects
  • Monitor system performance and prepare long and short-term facility plans including costs
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints
  • Initiates or performs engineering studies, proposing solutions, or recommending alternatives
  • Prepare written procedures to facilitate construction, maintenance, pipeline integrity assessments and operation of gas transmission and gathering systems
  • Provide technical support to field on a weekly basis
  • Prepare and present technical reports on projects
  • Contribute to the development of project budgets
  • Conduct studies and analyses to assist in the resolution of engineering-related issues; will assist with developing engineering standards and practices
  • Assists with Continuous Improvement (CI) training and apply CI tools and methodologies to improve output of job assignments and work processes
  • 25% Travel
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum)
  • 3 years of job-related engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Process modeling experience preferred (VMG Sim, ProMax)
  • Experience with sour gas treating
  • Field-level or direct operations experience preferred
  • Processing plant experience preferred

Other Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline including Excel, Word, Viso and Access database.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings/schematics and other design documents.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company.
  • Effective in self-management of time with a demonstrated personal commitment to work.
  • Intermediate knowledge of design, installation, and commissioning of natural gas treating/processing plants

To properly perform the integral functions of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: stand or walk and stoop or kneel. Frequently, the employee is required to sit. It is crucial to the outcome of job tasks that the employee is able to: talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms extensively.

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 10 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to lift/move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Vision requirements for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually works in a business office or other appropriate location during hybrid days, with a moderate noise level. Occasionally, the job will require presence at a project site. While working at a project site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, uneven or steep terrain and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but, may become loud at the project site.
