Job Description

Senior Program Finance Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Program Finance Analyst based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead financial planning and performance analysis across a portfolio of defense programs in a fast-growing aerospace and technology environment. You will serve as a trusted finance partner to program managers, helping translate technical execution, contractual commitments, and operational performance into actionable financial insights. From proposal development through production and program closeout, you will oversee forecasting, profitability, cash flow, and financial risk management. You will also contribute to company-wide financial planning, executive reporting, and long-range strategy. Working closely with engineering, operations, contracts, supply chain, and accounting teams, you will strengthen financial visibility and support informed business decisions. This is an opportunity to build scalable finance processes while having a direct impact on program and company performance.

Accountabilities:

As the primary finance business partner for assigned defense programs, you will oversee financial performance throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring forecasts reflect operational realities and support sound decision-making. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own the financial performance of assigned defense programs from proposal development through execution, production, and closeout.

  • Develop and maintain bottoms-up Estimates at Completion (EACs) and Estimates to Complete (ETCs), incorporating technical, scheduling, contractual, and operational assumptions.

  • Forecast and analyze bookings, backlog, revenue, margins, cash flow, funding, and working capital, identifying financial risks and opportunities and recommending corrective actions.

  • Evaluate cost and schedule performance, investigate variances, challenge assumptions, and assess the financial implications of program changes.

  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, operations, contracts, supply chain, and accounting to improve performance and support timely business decisions.

  • Prepare and present recurring program financial reviews to program managers and executive leadership, communicating performance drivers, forecast changes, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.

  • Support proposal pricing and business capture activities by evaluating cost, schedule, contractual, profitability, cash flow, and execution assumptions.

  • Partner with accounting to support accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 and compliance with government contracting requirements and internal financial controls.

  • Contribute to annual operating plans, monthly and quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning by consolidating program outlooks and analyzing company-level revenue, margins, headcount, operating expenses, and cash flow.

  • Build financial models, dashboards, KPIs, and scenario analyses that connect program execution to overall company performance.

  • Improve financial processes, models, systems, and reporting tools to enhance forecast accuracy, operational efficiency, visibility, and scalability.

  • Identify and communicate financial risks early, providing clear recommendations that strengthen accountability and improve program outcomes.

Requirements:

You bring strong program finance expertise, experience supporting government or defense contracts, and the ability to translate complex financial information into practical recommendations. You are comfortable working independently in a changing environment and building trusted relationships across technical and business teams. The qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • At least five years of progressive experience in program finance or program controls supporting Department of Defense (DoD), aerospace, or other U.S. government programs in a contract-driven environment.

  • Demonstrated ownership of program financial performance, including EAC and ETC development, revenue and margin forecasting, variance analysis, cash flow, funding, and financial risk management.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), integrated cost and schedule performance, funding analysis, baseline management, or comparable program controls disciplines.

  • Strong understanding of government contract structures and their financial implications, including firm-fixed-price (FFP), cost-reimbursement, and time-and-materials (T&M) contracts.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proven experience building financial models, forecasts, and executive-ready analyses.

  • Ability to work independently, establish effective processes, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and develop trusted partnerships with program managers and business leaders.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to present complex financial information clearly to technical and executive audiences.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and ASC 606.

  • Experience supporting proposal pricing, capture activities, and strategic business development initiatives.

Benefits:

  • Estimated annual base salary of $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Remote work arrangement, with locations listed in Denver and Santa Monica.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% employee premium coverage.

  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, and parental leave.

  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA).

  • 401(k) retirement plan.

  • Voluntary worksite benefits, including accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity coverage.

  • Potential eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance, subject to plan terms.

  • Direct exposure to program and executive leadership, with broad ownership across program finance, forecasting, and company planning.

  • The opportunity to develop scalable financial processes and contribute to meaningful performance improvements in the defense and aerospace sector.
