This is a senior technical leadership role focused on shaping the architecture and evolution of a next-generation network security firewall platform used to protect millions of users worldwide. You will operate at the intersection of deep systems engineering and cybersecurity innovation, driving design decisions that impact scalability, resilience, and performance across complex distributed environments. Working within a highly collaborative engineering organization, you will partner across scrum teams to modernize core platform capabilities and advance firewall technologies in a rapidly evolving threat landscape. The role requires strong ownership of architecture, hands-on engineering depth, and the ability to influence technical direction across teams. You will contribute to mission-critical systems spanning networking, kernel-level development, and cloud-native security infrastructure. In this role, you will lead the design and evolution of core firewall and network security systems, ensuring alignment with technical strategy, product goals, and high engineering standards. You will contribute across architecture, development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Architect, design, and develop scalable network security and firewall components aligned with product strategy and delivery objectives
- Lead technical execution across system design, ensuring robustness, performance, and security of core platform capabilities
- Define and drive unit, system, and integration testing strategies while ensuring high-quality code delivery
- Participate in and lead peer reviews of architecture, code, and technical specifications
- Identify gaps in requirements and propose optimized technical solutions in collaboration with Product Management
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, architectures, and tools to improve scalability and efficiency
- Recommend and implement improvements to engineering standards, processes, and system design across teams
- Collaborate with QA and engineering stakeholders to ensure reliable and maintainable releases
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in enterprise software architecture, deep expertise in systems programming, and strong leadership in cybersecurity or networking domains.
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise software architecture and system-level engineering
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with C/C++ or Golang in Linux system and kernel programming environments
- Strong expertise in networking, routing, switching, and security protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, HTTP/S, TLS)
- Deep understanding of network security, cryptography, and high-availability distributed systems
- Experience working across cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and virtualized environments
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and influence technical direction in large-scale engineering organizations
Desirable skills:
- Experience with Linux kernel networking (eBPF, XDP, netfilter, iptables, conntrack, ipset)
- Knowledge of VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN, secure tunneling)
- Exposure to microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, and REST-based architectures
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for productivity and code quality improvements
