Job Description

Staff Software Development Engineer (Front-end)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer (Front-end) in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of front-end architecture, product innovation, and technical leadership within a fast-scaling, AI-driven software environment. You will shape the future of complex web applications by designing scalable UI systems and delivering high-performance user experiences used in mission-critical workflows. Acting as both an individual contributor and technical leader, you will guide engineering direction while staying hands-on with modern front-end development. The role involves close collaboration with product, design, and backend teams to translate advanced product vision into elegant, accessible interfaces. You will also influence engineering standards, mentor developers, and contribute to long-term architectural decisions. This is an opportunity to impact a rapidly evolving platform where quality, scalability, and user experience are central to success.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead the design and development of advanced front-end systems while contributing directly to hands-on engineering execution. You will help define UI architecture, evolve design systems, and ensure consistency across a growing product ecosystem.

  • Provide technical leadership for front-end engineering teams, guiding architecture decisions and setting best practices
  • Build and maintain highly performant, accessible user interfaces using TypeScript and modern frameworks such as Svelte/SvelteKit
  • Design and evolve component libraries, UI patterns, and scalable design systems
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver seamless end-to-end user experiences
  • Lead initiatives in front-end modernization, tooling improvements, and system scalability
  • Ensure code quality through rigorous code reviews, testing strategies, and performance optimization
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex UI issues across browsers, devices, and environments
  • Support production systems and ensure smooth integration across services and APIs
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings deep front-end engineering expertise combined with strong technical leadership and a track record of building scalable web applications. You are equally comfortable coding, architecting systems, and guiding teams.

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong front-end focus
  • Expertise in TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks (Svelte/SvelteKit preferred, or React/Vue/Solid experience)
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale engineering initiatives and influence technical direction
  • Strong experience with component-driven development and UI architecture
  • Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, and tools such as Storybook or Chromatic
  • Experience with modern build tools and workflows (e.g., Vite, PNPM)
  • Solid understanding of front-end performance, accessibility, testing, and SDLC practices
  • Experience working in cloud-based environments and using Git-based workflows
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range: $175,000 – $200,000, based on experience and location
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Competitive compensation and performance-based considerations
  • Flexible and dynamic work environment in a fast-growing organization
  • Opportunity to work on impactful, large-scale user-facing systems
  • Access to modern engineering tools, practices, and continuous learning opportunities
  • Collaborative culture with strong emphasis on technical excellence and innovation
