Role Summary
Reporting to the IT Director, the Tier 2 Systems Administrator is responsible for delivering, supporting, and continuously improving IT services across a multi‑site chemical and industrial manufacturing environment (3 locations, ~100 users) with a chemical and industrial operating environment. This role combines advanced technical capability with hands‑on support, ensuring system stability, strong user experience, and reliable operations across office, plant, and laboratory environments.
This Tier 2 Systems Administrator supports infrastructure, identity, networking, and key business platforms including ERP, CMMS, Historian, and LIMS. The role also combines strong technical capability with a practical, user-focused approach, ensuring systems are stable, issues are resolved efficiently, and users are well supported.

IT Service Delivery & Tier 1/2 Support
Provide advanced end‑user support across all locationsTake full ownership of issues through resolution, including escalations from Tier 1Troubleshoot across infrastructure, applications, cloud services, and devicesSupport laptops, desktops, iPads, industrial PCs, and production‑floor devicesMaintain high user satisfaction through clear communication and follow‑throughPerform root cause analysis and implement preventative improvementsSystems & Platform Administration
Administer, maintain, and enhance:
Microsoft 365 / Office 365, including: Exchange Online Microsoft Teams SharePoint and OneDriveMicrosoft Entra ID / Azure AD (identity, access, device compliance, MFA, licensing)Network infrastructure (HPE / Aruba switches, wireless, VLANs, VPNs)NetSuite (ERP)MaintainX (CMMS)Canary HistorianQBench (LIMS)Cloud‑based SaaS platforms supporting operations, maintenance, and complianceResponsibilities include:
Managing system configuration, access, and lifecycle improvementsEnsuring device compliance and enforcing security policiesMaintaining documentation, procedures, and configuration recordsInfrastructure & Networking
Support site‑level infrastructure reliability across three locationsTroubleshoot and maintain connectivity for production systems, office systems, and cloud servicesCoordinate upgrades, changes, and maintenance activitiesSupport hybrid on‑prem/cloud environmentsAssist with endpoint management, patching, and device lifecycleVendor & Partner Coordination
Collaborate with SaaS vendors, MSPs, and support partnersAct as the technical interface between the business and external providersSupport delivery of changes, fixes, and system enhancementsEnsure vendor solutions align with operational and compliance requirementsEnhancements & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and usabilityWork with stakeholders to prioritize enhancementsSupport light solution design and implementationRecommend improvements to prevent recurring issuesSecurity, Identity & Compliance
Support enforcement of security policies through Entra ID and related toolsManage access control, MFA, conditional access, and device complianceSupport audit, regulatory, and documentation requirementsMaintain accurate licensing, access, and asset recordsEnvironment & Scope
Support approximately 100 users across:
Office staffPlant managementProduction floor personnelLaboratory and compliance teamsOperate within a small IT team requiring:

2+ years of Tier 2 IT support experience5+ years of hands‑on Tier 1 IT systems administration experienceStrong technical capability across infrastructure, identity, networking, and end‑user computingExperience supporting Microsoft 365 and cloud‑based environmentsExperience supporting Windows 10/11 and modern endpoint managementUnderstanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNsAbility to troubleshoot issues impacting production uptimeExperience working with vendors and service providersStrong documentation and communication skillsAbility to work independently and prioritize based on business impactDemonstrated willingness to remain hands‑on in a senior technical rolePreferred Qualifications
Experience with ERP (NetSuite) and CMMS (MaintainX)Exposure to industrial systems, historians, or LIMS platformsFamiliarity with Intune, conditional access, and endpoint securityBasic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred)Relevant certifications: Microsoft 365 Administrator CompTIA Network+ or Security+Experience in manufacturing or regulated environmentsEducation
