Job Summary

This position provides quality, person-centered, trauma informed, recovery focused therapeutic services to those enrolled in Therapy Services, including the co-occurring out-patient and intensive out-patient programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Value cultural competence and diversity
    1. Collaborate with staff, members, and the community to gain the perspectives of others having diverse opinions, abilities, values, beliefs, perspectives, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
    2. Take deliberate steps to increase their own cultural competency by attending training, events, discussions, workshops, etc.
  • Member Support Duties:
    1. Engage members utilizing a trauma lens and cultural humility to quickly establish trust and build rapport.
    2. Partner with members to help them achieve goals around improving their mental health and substance use
    3. Provide therapeutic services, including individual sessions, group sessions, family/couples therapy, and assessments to members with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and physical health issues. Use evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and harm reduction strategies.
    4. Educate members about the connection between mental health, substance use, and physical health, providing tools to enhance overall wellness.
    5. Empower members by teaching coping strategies, life skills, and relapse prevention skills.
    6. Collaborate with members to develop personalized treatment plans that address mental health, substance use, and physical health needs.
    7. Provide crisis intervention for members in acute distress, ensuring safety and immediate support.
    8. Address mental health and substance use crises with sensitivity and a trauma-informed approach, coordinating with medical and social services teams as necessary.
    9. Assist members with developing interpersonal skills to connect with members of the community and expand their natural support system.
    10. Complete, maintain, and review documentation for agency and funding requirements within all designated timeframes
    11. Develop and provide resources to members based around recovery services.
    12. Demonstrate consistent adherence to the ethical standards and professional conduct guidelines set forth by the American Counseling Association (ACA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and the Professional Counselor (PC) Code of Ethics to ensure safe, ethical, and client-centered therapeutic practice.

  • Public/Staff Relations:
    1. Communicate with internal and external partners to coordinate care and advocate for member needs.
    2. Build rapport and connections with community service providers to provide wrap around support and care to members in recovery.
    3. Develop effective working relationships with human services organizations.
  • Program Development:
    1. Create and update departmental procedures in collaboration with Therapy Services leadership.
    2. Coordinate and meet with other programs and industry leaders for research and development.
    3. Work closely with Park Center staff and other service providers to ensure comprehensive, recovery focused care for members.
    4. Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences to discuss member progress, challenges, and additional needs.
  • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master’s degree in social work (MSW), Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), or a related field required.
    • Licensure in the state of Tennessee (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or similar) preferred, or working towards licensure.
    • At least 2 years of experience providing direct clinical services, preferably with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, substance use, and/or physical health concerns.
    • Experience working with trauma, substance use recovery, and/or co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices is a plus.
    • Able to demonstrate strong recovery support competencies and ethical behaviors.
    • Must have proven written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
    • Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
    • Must be able to show proof of personal automobile insurance.
    WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Able to operate with many distractions.
    • Routine office environment with capability to provide virtual sessions as needed.

    Physical Demands

    • The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
      • The ability to sit and stand for extended periods is required.
    • The ability to use a vehicle to travel to different sites or transport members as needed.

    Schedule

    • Monday – Friday 8:30 to 4:30

    Work Location

    • Primary work location is 1935 21st Avenue S. Work at other Park Center locations may be required.
