About This Position
The Perinatal services float pool nurse works on 7 and 8 Irving. 7 Irving is a 54 bed unit within Perinatal Services. Perinatal Services nurses provide patient and family centered antepartum, postpartum and newborn care, working closely with other disciplines including but not limited to, lactation consultants, birth registrars, and care coordination. Our Regional Perinatal Program serves 13 surrounding counties. Crouse’s Perinatal Services includes a level 4 NICU, Labor and Delivery and 7 Irving.
8 Irving is a 23 bed Labor and Delivery unit within Perinatal Services. Perinatal Services nurses provide patient and family centered care, working closely with other disciplines including but not limited to, midwives, anesthesiologists, resident physicians and obstetricians. Nurses are skilled in care provided in triage, labor, delivery, recovery, cesarean section delivery, in the on-unit surgical suite, and PACU. Our Regional Perinatal Program serves 13 surrounding counties. Crouse’s Perinatal Services includes a level 4 NICU, postpartum unit and 8 Irving. A number of birthing options are available to low risk women including whirlpool tubs, ambulatory monitoring, squatting bars, and birthing balls. Common procedures performed on the unit are antenatal diagnostic testing, and medical treatment of complications of pregnancy.
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital. This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.
Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. If hired as a Graduate Nurse, a NYS limited licensure work permit must be obtained within ninety (90) days of graduation and the GN must successfully pass the NCLEX exam within 120 days of the beginning of employment to obtain the required professional nursing licensure with New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 2 weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of the hire date, if deemed necessary for the position based on the scope of the assigned role. Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification for Registered Nurses working in the Kienzle Family Maternity Center must be obtained by the end of orientation.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Certification in a specialty area.
