About This Position
Reports to: Café Manager
Position Summary
The Cashier / Front of House Associate is responsible for delivering accurate, efficient, and professional service across both Ember Kitchen and Café 257. This role supports daily cafeteria and café operations by processing transactions, assisting guests, and maintaining an organized and welcoming front-of-house environment.
Team members in this position are cross-trained to work seamlessly between the high-volume cafeteria service line and the lobby-facing café, adapting their service style to each space while upholding Ember Kitchen’s standards of professionalism and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
-Accurately process transactions using POS system
-Greet guests professionally and provide attentive service
-Answer menu questions and direct guests as needed
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of cashier stations
-Restock grab-and-go items and assist with front-of-house support
-Balance cash drawer and follow proper cash-handling procedures
-Communicate clearly with kitchen and café teams during peak periods
-Adapt service approach based on environment (cafeteria vs. café)
-Follow all food safety and sanitation standards

-Previous cashier or food service experience preferred
-Strong attention to accuracy and detail
-Professional, polished demeanor
-Ability to multitask and stay composed during peak service times
-Team-oriented mindset
-Reliable and punctual
Schedule & Work Environment
-Primarily weekday daytime shifts
-Rotating between high-volume cafeteria service and lobby café environment
-Professional office-building setting
