About This Position
Job Summary:
The Data Analytics Associate Fellowship is a 9-month, paid, experiential program embedded with the Ohio Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command. Fellows work directly alongside OHARNG leadership on one of the most data-intensive missions in the state National Guard system by producing analysis that directly informs recruiting, retention, and readiness decisions impacting thousands of soldiers.
Unlike traditional entry-level roles, this fellowship offers immediate, substantive responsibility from day one. You will develop highly transferable skills valued across the federal government and defense contracting sector, supported by a team committed to your professional growth. Fellows who demonstrate strong performance and initiative will be considered for fellowship extension or long-term engagement.

Analyze, develop, and maintain personnel, recruiting, readiness, and retention data reports for OHARNG leadership, including recurring briefings, market share analysis, production tracking, and recognition reporting
Design, build, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards and automated reporting suites; implement Power Automate workflows and SharePoint-based data pipelines to reduce manual reporting burden
Develop and execute reports and queries across multiple government data systems
Validate and reconcile data across systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity; submit and track tickets with system owners to resolve data discrepancies
Provide data analysis and visualization support for state retention planning, extension tracking, IRR reporting, and monthly PR2 leadership briefings
Support the Schools Program through eligibility reporting, Order of Merit List maintenance, data system updates, and school budget analysis as directed
Lead reconnection, validation, and rebuild of all Power BI reporting assets as part of the Army-directed enterprise migration to the Army Vantage / Palantir platform
Develop SOPs, training materials, and user-facing tools; facilitate stakeholder office hours and cross-functional working groups to drive adoption of automated reporting solutions
Prepare and deliver executive briefings and presentations for Recruiting Battalion and senior OHARNG leadership on national rankings, demographics, DPRO data, and state comparisons
Working Conditions and Location:
Candidate must be available to report in person to Beightler Armory, 2825 W Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43235, 5 days a week (Monday – Friday) 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST
Standard office environment with occasional remote coordination with clients
Hybrid coordination with remote teammates; some travel for training/meetings may be required
May require handling of sensitive or controlled information
Fast-paced, goal-driven environment handling sensitive personnel data
Qualifications Required:
Ability to report in person to Beightler Armory, Columbus, OH (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST)
Bachelor's degree completed by June 2025 (or within 3 months of application) in a relevant field
U.S. citizenship and ability to handle sensitive government information
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation)
Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills developed through coursework or project work
Preferred
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, or SharePoint (academic projects count!)
Exposure to SQL, Python, or R for data querying and analysis
Prior internship, co-op, capstone, or research experience involving real-world data
Prior National Guard, ROTC, or military-affiliated experience
Familiarity with government or DoD data environments
Familiarity with the Army Vantage / Palantir platform or other enterprise government data environments
Experience with requirements gathering, stakeholder facilitation, and cross-functional working groups
Ability to work with hybrid teams of contractors and government personnel
$21 - $25 an hour
