The Academy for Innovation in Medicine (AIM) is an innovative public STEMM school opening July 2026 for students in 6 and 9 grade and growing to 6 through 12 grade over the next four years. Through unique partnership with Grady Health System, AIM provides students with rigorous academic preparation grounded in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine, while offering authentic exposure to healthcare careers and real-world applications of learning. Through this partnership, AIM students engage in experiential learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction to clinical, research, and community-based medical environments.
At AIM, Physical Education program plays a vital role in preparing students for lifelong wellness and success in healthcare-connected learning. Across all grade bands, students engage in meaningful learning experiences that connect physical activity to health outcomes, personal responsibility, and community well-being, and they are encouraged to take ownership of their wellness journey through data-informed goal setting, reflection, and collaboration. AIM PE teachers create an engaging, supportive, and culturally responsive environment that promotes student voice, belonging, wellness, and achievement—while maintaining high expectations, strong relationships, and a clear sense of mission and purpose.

Requirements:Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence & STEMM Integration
- Deliver rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned Physical Education instruction for middle and high school students in alignment with the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Health and Physical Education.
- Connect physical education and wellness learning to real-world contexts helping students understand how physical health impacts academic performance, career readiness, and long-term quality of life.
- Integrate healthcare and human physiology concepts into PE instruction as appropriate (e.g., heart rate monitoring, fitness zones, cardiovascular and muscular health, stress management), helping students develop the knowledge and habits that support healthy decision-making and overall wellness.
- Leverage AIM’s interdisciplinary STEMM programming and healthcare focus to create authentic learning opportunities, such as fitness data tracking, performance goal-setting projects, wellness plans, movement science labs, and real-world simulations (e.g., CPR/first aid awareness, sports medicine basics, personal training principles, or athletic training scenarios as appropriate).
Student Development & Mentorship
- Develops student leadership and character by creating structured opportunities for students to practice responsibility, communication, collaboration, and service to others through team-based physical activities and school culture routines.
- Supports students’ physical, social-emotional, and mental wellness by serving as a coach and mentor who helps students build healthy habits, resilience, and self-awareness.
- Provide personalized learning paths and support to help students earn early high school credits.
- Foster a growth mindset and a strong sense of professional ownership and agency among students.
- Collaborate with the student support team to address academic, social, and emotional needs.
Collaboration & School Culture
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues and school leadership to support student success, strengthen instructional alignment, and contribute to a cohesive middle and high school program.
- Contributes to a positive, joyful, and rigorous school culture by promoting wellness, student engagement, and community-building through consistent routines and schoolwide programming.
Perform additional duties as may be assigned or required by the CEO, Governing Board, or applicable federal or state requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid Georgia teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain one) in Secondary (6-12) Education
- (preferred).
- A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience.
- Proven commitment to high academic standards and student success, particularly for students
- from diverse backgrounds
Preferred
- Experience in project-based learning (PBL) or integrating interdisciplinary STEM/STEMM concepts.
- Experience teaching high quality, cohesive interdisciplinary units such as IB or EL Education.
- Experience with dual enrollment models or college-level curriculum preparation.
- A strong understanding of using data for student improvement
- A desire to contribute to building a school model from the ground up.
