Position Overview

At Family Tree Relief Nursery, our Therapeutic Early Childhood Program (TECP) empowers children and their families through transformative emotional support and enriching learning experiences. We embrace a trauma-informed, strength-based approach that prioritizes resilience and growth.

Home educators play a crucial role in this mission by combining their expertise in home-visits with Outreach initiatives to foster meaningful connections and emphasize social and emotional development. Staff build trust and guide nurturing relationships between parents and children. Staff utilize assessment tools to customize activities and set achievable goals that extend from the home into the community. Staff guide and model effective parenting skills, ensuring families feel equipped and confident in their abilities.

Through monthly home visits, we inspire families to achieve their aspirations while facilitating community connections and providing essential resources tailored to their unique needs. Together, we cultivate a supporting environment where families can thrive and children can flourish.

Key Responsibilities

60% Engage with Assigned Families

  • Promote positive parenting skills and parent/child interaction through effective communication
  • Provide basic needs such as food, diapers, wipes, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, referrals and other community resources when available.
  • Screen and assess children’s development utilizing ASQ / ASQ:SE at the appropriate intervals. Provide information on child development and appropriate activities to parents.
  • Support families with setting individual and family goals using the Family Service Plan and monitor their strengths and concerns through monthly home visits.
  • Track and monitor each family’s progress utilizing client contact logs. Complete home visit reports within 48 hours and all other documentation by specified due date.

10% Outreach and Community Engagement

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with families in the community, raising awareness of available resources and services.
  • Organize and participate in community events to establish relationships and promote Family Tree Relief Nursery programs.
  • Collaborate with local organizations and resources to enhance service delivery and support for families.
  • Facilitate workshops and informational sessions for parents, focusing on parenting skills, child development, and available community resources.

20% Coordinate Therapeutic Program

  • Classroom curriculum is child-led, with safety and routine expectations considered.
  • Drive and/or ride the classroom vehicle when scheduled.
  • Ensure the program upholds DELC and ORO standards required for certification
  • Incorporate individual child goals into home visiting curriculum
  • Oversee and manage a Therapeutic Program, creating a developmentally appropriate lesson plan. Classroom curriculum should focus on Social and Emotional child development

10% Other Duties

  • Attend court proceedings as required, representing the program and advocating for the best interests of the families served.
  • Provide support to Family Tree Relief Nursery (FTRN) in any role as needed, ensuring a collaborative and adaptable approach to team needs.
Requirements:

General Expectations:

  • Attend and participate in required supervision, team meetings, All Staff meetings, and training as required.
  • Attend community, work, and family events assigned.
  • Complete all data and reports in the timeframes stipulated.
  • Comply with all health and safety standards per state regulations.
  • Comply with state guidelines regarding mandated reporting of suspected abuse and/or neglect.
  • Document hours and mileage in accordance with Relief Nursery policy.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance while employed at Family Tree Relief Nursery.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with Relief Nursery policies.
  • Participate in the delivery of Parent Education in accordance with Family Tree Relief Nursery programming.
  • Serve as a member of one Family Tree Relief Nursery Committee: Safety, Social Engagement, or Self-Care. Carrying out duties of this committee as agreed during regular meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Alignment with Values: All work performed must align with the philosophy, mission, and values of Family Tree Relief Nursery.
  • Background Check: Must successfully pass the Family Tree Relief Nursery criminal background check per organizational policies, and/or be currently enrolled in the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Traditional Health Worker Registry.
  • Certifications: Must possess or obtain and maintain an Oregon Food Handler’s Card, as well as Adult and Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human services, family studies, early childhood education, child development, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience: Preferred two years of experience in organizations serving around high-risk populations, including but not limited to: support and recovery services, parent education, or early childhood development and education.
  • Knowledge of Child Safety: Basic understanding of child maltreatment indicators and prevention of abuse; must have attended or possess documentation of recent mandatory reporting training.
  • Professional Attributes: Demonstrate dependability, flexibility, punctuality, and strong time management skills.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation is required, along with a valid driver’s license for your state of residency, personal auto liability coverage, and a driving record that meets the criteria for coverage under the corporate liability policy. Physical and Mental Demands: The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs.), push, pull, reach, manipulate, carry, and key/type. It also involves intense mental and visual attention for complex tasks that require planning

and execution. Working Conditions: Typically performed in comfortable conditions with minimal disagreeable elements. Attendance and Safety: Adherence to FTRN attendance and call-in policies is essential, along with understanding and
