Key Accountabilities
1. Employee Benefits & Payroll Compliance:
Serve as a trusted partner to Payroll and Human Resources by ensuring payroll practices align with federal, state, and local regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Stay ahead of evolving wage and hour laws and payroll tax requirements, providing thoughtful, proactive guidance that supports both compliance and operational success.
2. Contract Review and Negotiation:
Support the organization through careful review, drafting, and negotiating of vendor service agreements and other commercial contracts. Help ensure agreements are clear, compliant, and aligned with Arrow’s standards and values.
3. Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements impacting senior living operations. Partner with internal teams to strengthen compliance programs, support internal audits, and help mitigate risk in a practical, solutions-oriented manner.
4. Privacy & Data Security:
Provide guidance on privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, helping to protect the sensitive information entrusted to us. Support the development and implementation of policies that promote responsible data stewardship.
Duties

- Partner with Payroll and HR to review and strengthen payroll practices across jurisdictions.
- Assist in responding to payroll tax, unemployment, and census-related notices with accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into practical guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Review, draft, and negotiate vendor contracts and service agreements.
- Ensure contracts align with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support compliance initiatives, including internal audits and program development.
- Provide guidance related to privacy laws, including HIPAA and data protection standards.
- Assist with implementation and ongoing support of privacy and security practices.
- Collaborate on enterprise risk management initiatives to proactively identify and address areas of risk.
- Support company efforts related to the collection of outstanding resident accounts receivable.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law (Missouri, Ohio, Arkansas, or Kansas preferred but not required).
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in employee benefits, corporate law, healthcare law, or compliance (in-house or law firm).
- Working knowledge of payroll taxes, employment law compliance, HIPAA, and privacy regulations.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Professional in appearance and conduct, with a commitment to representing Arrow’s values.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with vendor management and service agreements.
Physical Requirements
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee must be able to communicate effectively through various methods, including virtual meetings, email, and written documentation. Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required.
