Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary:
The College of Professional Studies (CPS) is looking for enthusiastic undergraduate mentors to support the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA), an immersive program that gives high school students a firsthand look at college life. As a mentor, you’ll work on a team to help build a positive, engaging experience for students while developing your own leadership and community-building skills.
Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA) team with the development and implementation of engaging and educational activities for high school and incoming college students.
  • Abide by and uphold program policies; address safety and community concerns as they arise and refer to campus partners when appropriate.
  • Live in the residence hall and supervise students throughout the duration of the program.
  • Lead and participate in social activities—both on and off campus—as part of the program experience.
  • Co-facilitate one section of PCAC 1000 by developing and leading workshops focused on personal growth and community service, as well as grading assignments and providing constructive feedback.
  • Build strong mentor–mentee relationships to offer consistent guidance, encouragement, and support.
  • Conduct individual and group academic coaching to strengthen academic skills and reinforce classroom learning.
  • Guide students in effective time-management strategies, the creation of personalized study plans, and the development of organizational skills essential for college success.
  • Provide homework and assignment support across a variety of subject areas.
  • Maintain knowledge of campus resources and refer students appropriately when additional support is needed.
Additional Information:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as a Villanova undergraduate student, maintaining a clear student conduct record and strong academic performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and effectively guide peers.
  • Genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of high school and incoming college students.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and equipped with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Selected candidates will be required to obtain federal and state pre-employment clearances to work with minors, as well as any additional certifications deemed necessary (all paid for by Villanova).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a coach, mentor, or tutor.
  • Passionate about preparing high school students for college.

Dates:
  • June 23-26: Training (not required to live on-campus)
  • June 29-July 30: Program (required to live on-campus)

Additional Information:
  • Internship credit may be available.
