About This Position
Under the direction of the golf course Superintendent the mechanic works independently in the repairing and maintenance of various gasoline and diesel-powered golf maintenance equipment and the club’s gasoline beverage cart and picker fleet. The mechanic also assists in the course maintenance program and will warrant safety procedures a top priority.
1. Communicates any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment.
2. Inspects, diagnosis, adjust, and repairs mechanical defects failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis.
3. Works to prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work.
4. Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.
5. Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment.
6. Keeps maintenance equipment fueled, oiled, and inspected; performs related tasks as required.
7. Keeps up with preventative maintenance schedule, i.e. oil, grease, air, gas, etc.
8. Inspect and repair equipment on course.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the course Superintendent.
Requirements:High school diploma
Two years of equipment repair experience
Valid driver’s license
Requires a working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline and diesel powered equipment
Requires mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools
Requires an ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees
Maintains a clean and safe work environment as well as a well-organized parts inventory
Requires adhering to proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds, and other fluids
Requires assisting in daily inspection of golf course maintenance equipment
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk
Ability to lift 50 lbs, and to lift overhead and push or pull and/or move lighter objects
The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions of moderate cold and extreme heat
The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and motorized equipment vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
