Description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Assistant II to join our busy Pain Management Office-Based Surgery Center. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent patient care abilities, and experience assisting physicians with pain management procedures. Experience with fluoroscopy-guided procedures, urine drug screening collection, and prior authorizations for specialty medications is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation
  • Prepare patients for pain management procedures and minor office-based surgeries
  • Assist physicians during procedures including injections, nerve blocks, and other interventional pain treatments
  • Maintain sterile fields and assist with procedural setup and breakdown
  • Assist with fluoroscopy-guided procedures (experience preferred)
  • Collect and process urine drug screen (UDS) specimens following proper chain-of-custody protocols
  • Document patient information accurately in eClinicalWorks (eCW) EMR system
  • Process and submit prior authorizations for specialty medications and pain management treatments
  • Coordinate with pharmacies and insurance companies regarding medication approvals
  • Prepare and administer
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flowmedications as directed by the provider
  • Provide post-procedure care instructions and patient education
  • Ensure proper cleaning, stocking, and organization of exam and procedure rooms
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical medical assistant experience required
  • Experience in pain management, orthopedics, or surgery center settings preferred
  • Fluoroscopy experience is a plus
  • Experience collecting urine drug screens (UDS) preferred
  • Experience using eClinicalWorks (eCW) required or strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with prior authorizations for specialty medications
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural assistance
  • Strong communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience assisting with spinal injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, or other interventional procedures
  • Familiarity with procedure room workflows and surgical instrumentation
  • Ability to anticipate physician needs during procedures
  • Experience coordinating care with pharmacies, insurance companies, and specialty medication programs
