About This Position
Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Assistant II to join our busy Pain Management Office-Based Surgery Center. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent patient care abilities, and experience assisting physicians with pain management procedures. Experience with fluoroscopy-guided procedures, urine drug screening collection, and prior authorizations for specialty medications is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation
- Prepare patients for pain management procedures and minor office-based surgeries
- Assist physicians during procedures including injections, nerve blocks, and other interventional pain treatments
- Maintain sterile fields and assist with procedural setup and breakdown
- Assist with fluoroscopy-guided procedures (experience preferred)
- Collect and process urine drug screen (UDS) specimens following proper chain-of-custody protocols
- Document patient information accurately in eClinicalWorks (eCW) EMR system
- Process and submit prior authorizations for specialty medications and pain management treatments
- Coordinate with pharmacies and insurance companies regarding medication approvals
- Prepare and administer
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flowmedications as directed by the provider
- Provide post-procedure care instructions and patient education
- Ensure proper cleaning, stocking, and organization of exam and procedure rooms
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times
Qualifications:
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of clinical medical assistant experience required
- Experience in pain management, orthopedics, or surgery center settings preferred
- Fluoroscopy experience is a plus
- Experience collecting urine drug screens (UDS) preferred
- Experience using eClinicalWorks (eCW) required or strongly preferred
- Familiarity with prior authorizations for specialty medications
- Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural assistance
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience assisting with spinal injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, or other interventional procedures
- Familiarity with procedure room workflows and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to anticipate physician needs during procedures
- Experience coordinating care with pharmacies, insurance companies, and specialty medication programs
