Position Title: Cardiovascular Accreditation Coordinator

Position Summary: The Cardiovascular Accreditation Coordinator provides leadership and coordination for all activities related to cardiovascular accreditation programs, including DNV Stroke Certification and ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation. This role ensures compliance with national standards, leads performance improvement initiatives, oversees data collection and reporting, and supports multidisciplinary teams in achieving and sustaining excellence in stroke and chest pain care. The Cardiovascular Accreditation Coordinator serves as the primary clinical resource for stroke and chest pain programs, driving evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness, and high-quality patient outcomes. Qualifications: Education:

• Bachelor’s degree (BSN) in nursing required.
• Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience in emergency, critical care, stroke, or cardiovascular services.
• A minimum of three (3) years of management experience is required.
• Experience with accreditation or regulatory readiness preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice required.
• Knowledge of program development and administration required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as RN (SCLLR) in good standing required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Preferred: Certifications related to stroke or cardiovascular care (e.g., SCRN, CNRN, PCCN, CCRN).

Duties & Responsibilities: Accreditation Management

• • Leads and manages all activities required to maintain DNV Comprehensive or Primary Stroke Center certification.
  • Coordinates preparation, submission, and maintenance of ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation requirements.
  • Ensures continuous readiness for all surveys, audits, and unannounced regulatory visits.
  • Develops, implements, and updates clinical pathways, policies, and protocols to meet accreditation standards.
  • New accreditation and other job duties as assigned.

Program Leadership & Clinical Coordination

• Functions as the RN Stroke Coordinator, overseeing all aspects of the stroke program including patient care coordination, quality reviews, and outcomes improvement.
• Serves as the facility’s expert resource on chest pain, ACS standards, cardiovascular interventions, and evidence-based practices.
• Collaborates with physicians, EMS, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
• Works closely with emergency department, ICU, imaging, lab, and cardiology teams to optimize workflows and reduce care delays.

Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting

• Oversees clinical data abstraction for stroke and chest pain registries.
• NCDR registry management.
• Tracks and trends key performance indicators (door-to-needle time, door-to-balloon time, TIA metrics, etc.).
• Prepares and presents monthly and quarterly performance dashboards to leadership and committees.
• Develops action plans based on data findings and leads performance improvement initiatives.

Education & Staff Development

• Provides ongoing education for nurses, providers, EMS partners, and ancillary staff on stroke and chest pain best practices.
• Coordinates mock drills, competency assessments, and stroke alert/chest pain workflow training.
• Ensures clinical teams understand accreditation standards and requirements.

Process Improvement & Compliance

• Facilitates root cause analyses (RCAs), failure mode and effects analyses (FMEAs), and quality improvement projects.
• Monitors adherence to clinical guidelines, stroke core measures, and ACC accreditation metrics.
• Implements corrective actions and tracks progress toward compliance goals.

Community Outreach (if applicable)

• Participates in or coordinates community education related to stroke awareness, heart attack recognition, and cardiovascular health.
