Video Projects Manager
The Video Projects Manager plays a key role in telling the story of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden across digital, social, broadcast, and on-site platforms. This position leads the planning, production, and delivery of high-quality video and multimedia projects that advance the Zoo's mission of inspiring everyone with wildlife, supports marketing and communications initiatives, and creates content that will appeal to multiple audiences.
Working collaboratively across departments, the Video Projects Manager manages multiple projects simultaneously—from concept through final delivery—while staying current with modern production techniques, digital trends, and emerging platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, strong project manager, and technically skilled media professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan, produce, shoot, and edit video and multimedia content for marketing campaigns, social media, web, on grounds displays, internal communications, donor engagement, and public relations.
  • Serve as the Zoo's lead project manager for video and media initiatives, managing timelines, deliverables, approvals, and cross-departmental coordination.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, PR, Special Events, Development, Conservation, Education, Group Sales, Horticulture, and Corporate Partnerships to identify storytelling opportunities and meet media needs.
  • Lead creative development including concepting, scripting, storyboarding, and post-production direction to ensure content aligns with brand standards and strategic goals.
  • Capture and produce content for major Zoo events, habitat openings, animal stories, conservation initiatives, and promotional campaigns.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, freelancers, production crews, internal creators, interns, and broadcast partners as needed.
  • Support advertising efforts by coordinating and contributing to commercial and paid media production, including agency collaboration.
  • Manage, organize, and maintain the Zoo's digital media library, ensuring proper cataloging, archiving, and accessibility of assets.
  • Oversee video content displayed on in-park monitors and digital signage, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and engaging.
  • Manage and organize Cincinnati Zoo's YouTube channel.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics for video and digital media (e.g., social engagement, views, completion rates) and provide insights to support reporting and strategy.
  • Stay current with trends in video production, social media, storytelling formats, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure all media production follows Zoo safety protocols, animal welfare standards, and ethical storytelling practices.
  • Seek opportunities to elevate the visitor and donor experience through creative, mission-forward media.
  • Communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and adapt priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Support the Marketing & Communications team and other departments with additional duties assigned.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
Education & Experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job successfully will be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in video production, film, digital media, communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of professional experience in video production, multimedia storytelling, or digital media.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from concept through delivery.
  • Experience working with digital-first and social media video formats required.
  • Experience in attractions, non-profit, conservation, education, tourism, or hospitality industries is a plus.
  • Experience managing interns and/or co-ops, is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with modern video production tools and workflows (camera operation, lighting, audio, non-linear editing, color correction, and delivery formats).
  • Working knowledge of professional editing software.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and visual composition skills.
  • Animation skills and graphic design for videos are a plus.
  • Ability to use AI to create efficiencies is a plus.
  • Understanding brand standards, marketing strategy, and audience-focused content creation.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content optimization, and digital performance analytics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems creatively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and outdoors as required for events and animal-related content.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate Zoo vehicles, if required.
  • Valid Part 107 drone operator's license preferred.
Working Conditions: Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment, post-offer drug & nicotine screen, background check. While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, and utilize manual dexterity to use computer mouse and keyboard and other office/studio equipment. Incumbent may be exposed to outside weather conditions and must be able to lift/move/carry up to 50 pounds without assistance. Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours, as needed in support of Zoo activities; Requires a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
Key Position Details & Benefits: This position is full-time, salaried-exempt, and eligible for the Zoo's benefit programs for non-union employees at the first of the month following date of hire.
