POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Optician assists the patient with the selection, purchase, adjustment, and dispensing of eyewear. Maintain inventory control and ensure the proper documentation of optical records. Ensure a prescription capture rate in the practice of 75% or greater.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED requiredCurrent Optician License in State of Florida requiredTwo (2) years of experience as an optician in a busy practice requiredAssociate's or bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Educate and assist patient with the selection of eyewear in the optical departmentGreet and assist all patients in a friendly mannerProvide routine cleaning and adjustment services for patients’ eyewearEnsure all optical boards and surrounding areas are clean and well stocked at all timesOrder jobs from lab according to practice protocolsTrouble-shoot eyewear issues with patients to ensure the patient’s needs are metCheck-in and document all incoming jobs correctlyReview patient insurance to determine fees due and collect payment from patients on all ordersMaintain certification while continuing to improve skills and attend all in-service and webinar trainings as directed by leadersMaintain accurate records by following proper documentation requirementsSupport the practice core values, mission, vision, and purpose statements to develop and enhance patient experience and careMaintain practice confidentiality, follow legal, HIPAA & OSHA guidelines, follow the rules and regulations of the practice as documented in the practice employee manualOther duties as assigned
