About This Position
At Journal Technologies, we believe our technology can be a force for good in the world ensuring the proper and efficient functioning of some of the most foundational aspects of society - the courts and justice system.
We create and implement enterprise software that supports the administration of justice, currently in the United States, Canada, and Australia. While our eSeries product suite enables governments and their employees to deliver continued foundational court processes, our R&D focuses on leveraging emerging possibilities with technology to improve access and efficiency.

We also have a major office in Logan, Utah, a team in Melbourne, Australia, an office in Victoria, Canada and a growing number of remote staff across North America and the world.
Under our next generation of leadership, we're implementing a new vision for the company that prioritizes building an extraordinary workplace with empowered people at the heart of our business. Great people want to collaborate with great people, and we are actively looking for smart, motivated people who care deeply about the work they do.
Intermediate Project Manager
What we are looking for:
You thrive in complexity — and bring calm, clarity, and momentum to every project you lead. At Journal Technologies, you won’t just manage timelines; you’ll own the delivery of meaningful, technically sophisticated solutions that power courts and justice systems.
You’re energized by operating at the intersection of customers, engineers, and product leaders. You can take big-picture business goals and translate them into executable technical plans that teams can rally behind. You see risks before they become problems — especially technical ones — and proactively guide teams toward smart, thoughtful solutions.
You build trust quickly through transparency, accountability, and technical credibility. You’re curious about how systems work and confident asking the right questions, even when you’re not the one writing code. You enjoy being the steady presence in complex delivery environments — the person others rely on for clarity, direction, and results.
If you’re growth-minded, motivated by meaningful impact, and ready to lead complex work that truly matters, you’ll thrive here.
Responsibilities:
- Own delivery of assigned Statements of Work from kickoff through completion, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, budgets, and technical expectations
- Partner closely with engineering, implementation, QA, and architecture teams to plan and execute technically complex work
- Translate business and customer requirements into clear technical tasks, delivery plans, and acceptance criteria
- Identify, assess, and actively manage technical risks, dependencies, and integration challenges
- Lead project planning, sprint coordination, and sequencing of technical work across teams
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders, clearly communicating technical progress, risks, and tradeoffs
- Manage change requests with an understanding of both delivery impact and technical implications
- Maintain accurate project data and reporting in Jira, JCMS, and related tracking systems
- Ensure project documentation—including decisions, assumptions, and technical constraints—is complete and accessible
- Guide and support analysts, implementers, and testers in day-to-day execution and prioritization
Requirements:
- This role is based in our Victoria, Canada office at 701-1803 Douglas Street, Victoria, BC V8T 5C3. The successful candidate must be onsite 2–3 times per week to collaborate with local teams and support client delivery.
- 2 – 5 years of experience managing technical or software-focused projects, ideally in enterprise or SaaS environments
- Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, profitability, and delivery for technically complex projects
- Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and tools such as Jira
- Technical fluency sufficient to understand system configuration, integrations, APIs, data flows, and environment considerations
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, and non-technical stakeholders alike
- Proven experience identifying and mitigating delivery and technical risks
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Experience working directly with customers in post-implementation or professional services contexts
- PMP, CSM, or similar certification is a plus, but not required
Additional Details:
- Typical project sizes range from $10k to $100k
- Projects may include integrations, configuration-heavy enhancements, workflow redesigns, and public-facing portal deployments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project/PPM tools)
The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job function. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties; additional responsibilities may be assigned.
At this time, we are only able to consider candidates who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents due to employment authorization requirements. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or work authorization support for this position.
