About This Position

About Jetson:

Jetson is on a mission to accelerate the transition of 100M homes across North America away from burning fossil fuels to sustainable energy use. Here at Jetson, we believe in a future that is 100% electric and 100% better.

Homes are one of the largest sources of carbon emissions, which can be dramatically reduced by converting to heat pumps, however, adoption lags due to high cost and friction in the retrofit process today. Solving one layer of the value chain won’t move the needle on adoption. Mass adoption will come when it becomes a no-brainer for homeowners to transition. That is why Jetson is building the first fully vertically integrated home electrification company. Jetson will make it simple, transparent and affordable for everyone to get a heat pump.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-driven Cost Accountant to play a key role in building out Jetson’s cost and inventory accounting capabilities across our U.S. and Canadian operations. This role will own the integrity of our inventory valuation, cost structures, and cost of goods sold (COGS), while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and our warehouse teams.

You will help shape how Jetson measures unit economics, ensures accurate landed costs, and supports our rapid multi-warehouse expansion using NetSuite and integrated WMS tools.

What You Will Do:

Cost & Inventory Accounting

  • Own and maintain standard costs, landed costs, and cost roll-ups for all equipment, materials, and parts.
  • Perform inventory valuation, reconcile inventory subledgers, and ensure accuracy across multiple warehouses and stocking locations.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly COGS close processes, including accruals, adjustments, and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse teams’ inventory cycle counts process to perform variance reporting, and root-cause analysis to support operational accuracy.
  • Review and analyze purchase price variance (PPV), freight variance, and material usage variance to explain and optimize cost performance.

Operational & Systems Integration

  • Work with NetSuite to optimize item records, cost categories, inventory workflows, and replenishment methods.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams and WMS providers to ensure continuous accuracy in inventory transactions (receiving, transfers, returns, adjustments).
  • Support process improvements in receiving, putaway, bill-of-material costing, and inter-warehouse transfers.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to validate vendor charges, freight costs, and landed cost allocations.

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Prepare month-end inventory and COGS reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with development of unit cost reporting, margin analysis, and operational dashboards.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting related to materials, freight, and inventory performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Operations, Procurement, and Install teams to ensure accurate costing of materials used in projects.
  • Provide cost insights that help drive sourcing decisions and margin improvement initiatives.
-Support Controller and CFO with ad-hoc cost analyses as Jetson scales its operations. What You Bring:
  • Describe the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate in 7 bullet points max

What You Bring:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing/distribution accounting.
  • Strong hands-on experience with inventory workflows, cost roll-ups, and reconciliations.
  • Experience using NetSuite is strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory valuation methods.
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel/Sheets), formulas, modeling, and data analysis.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred, but equivalent hands-on cost accounting experience considered.
  • Experience working in multi-location inventory environments or with WMS tools is an asset.
