Head of Software Engineering at E-470 Public Highway Authority (CO) – Aurora, Colorado

The Head of Software Engineering leads a team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable software systems. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and product delivery, ensuring teams deliver high-quality solutions that support millions or billions of users. The manager partners with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions while maintaining strong engineering standards.

• The Head of SEM will provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, define roadmap for the team, and encourage the teams to embrace advanced technology and innovation
• Strong leadership and presence to drive multiple initiatives in parallel, focusing on delivering customer value, building strong teams, making sound architectural decisions, and consistently delivering results.

• Executing engineering roadmaps
  • Translating product goals into engineering plans
  • Managing sprint execution and milestones
  • Removing blockers for engineers
  • Managing cross-team dependencies
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and with quality

• 10–15+ years of software engineering experience, including:
  • 8+ years managing engineers
  • Experience designing distributed systems
  • Experience delivering large-scale production systems
• Solid experience in building and maintain cross-functional collaboration with partner teams such as Product Managers, Delivery Managers/Leads, Data Analytics and Data Scientists, Security teams, Platform / Infrastructure teams.
• Strong understanding of Application Design, Platform Engineering, and E2E Observability
• Ability to review code as needed

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
