Position Summary
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and supporting kitchen operations to ensure efficient and consistent food production in a fast-paced, fast-casual restaurant environment. This role focuses on ingredient preparation, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting the kitchen team in delivering high-quality meals quickly and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients for service including washing, cutting, chopping, slicing, and portioning meats, vegetables, and other food items.
Follow standardized recipes and preparation procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
Label and store ingredients according to food safety and rotation standards (FIFO).
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation throughout the shift.
Assist line cooks and kitchen staff with food preparation and restocking during service.
Operate kitchen equipment safely including slicers, mixers, food processors, and knives.
Monitor ingredient quality and report shortages or spoilage to kitchen management.
Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries.
Follow all health department, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
Support kitchen closing and cleaning duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred.
Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
