Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Accounting Supervisor to lead day-to-day accounting operations while supporting a high-performing team. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting, while also serving as a hands-on contributor within the accounting function.

The Accounting Supervisor partners closely with the Accounting Manager to support financial close, reporting, audits, and ongoing process improvements, while providing coaching and guidance to team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise daily activities of accounting staff, including assigning work, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables
  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, invoices, and financial reports for accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies
  • Support and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including preparing and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, invoicing, and financial reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring excellent service and timely communication
  • Perform and review complex accounting transactions and analyses
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
  • Ensure consistency in accounting processes, documentation, and workpaper standards
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Support internal controls and maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting
  • Analyze variances and account activity to identify trends and discrepancies
  • Coordinate audit support, including documentation and auditor requests
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex accounting issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and process alignment
  • Support special projects and system or process enhancements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members
  • Participate in hiring, training, and onboarding
  • Assign and direct work, evaluate performance, and provide feedback
  • Address employee concerns and support resolution of issues
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience reviewing accounting work or guiding team members

Preferred:

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience
  • CPA certification
  • Healthcare industry experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on accountability and team success
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role operates in a professional office environment with a low noise level. Responsibilities include extended periods of computer-based work, communication with team members, and occasional lifting of office materials up to 20–25 pounds.

TRAVEL

Some travel, including local and occasional overnight trips, may be required based on business needs.
