This role is focused on managing and mitigating risk across delinquent mortgage portfolios, with a strong emphasis on litigation, title curative processes, and legal resolution strategies. You will work at the intersection of legal, operational, and financial analysis to assess case merit, monitor ongoing proceedings, and ensure compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines. The position requires close collaboration with attorneys, senior management, and external partners to drive effective resolution strategies. You will also be responsible for identifying systemic risk trends and recommending process improvements that reduce exposure and enhance portfolio performance. Operating in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, this role combines analytical rigor, legal understanding, and strong communication skills to protect organizational interests and support strategic decision-making.
You will be responsible for overseeing default-related risk activities, particularly those involving litigation and title curative processes, ensuring accurate case management, compliance, and effective resolution strategies.
- Monitor and manage litigated matters and title curative cases related to delinquent mortgage loans
- Conduct case analysis to determine legal merit and assess financial risk exposure
- Support legal counsel in developing resolution strategies aligned with applicable laws and investor guidelines
- Maintain accurate system records, including case status, strategies, and key legal milestones
- Communicate case updates and recommendations to senior management and clients
- Identify risk trends and process gaps within the portfolio and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, investor, and internal compliance requirements
- Attend hearings, depositions, and trials when required, including travel responsibilities
This role requires strong legal and mortgage servicing knowledge, analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage complex, high-volume casework under strict deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Paralegal certification or 4+ years of experience in default servicing, title curative, or legal support roles
- Strong understanding of mortgage servicing laws and regulations (e.g., RESPA, FDCPA, GLBA, foreclosure-related statutes)
- Experience working with attorneys and managing legal or litigation-related processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and recommend solutions
- Advanced organizational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in professional and legal contexts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access) and mortgage servicing systems (e.g., MSP/LPS/Fidelity)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
