About The Role:

The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) supports the delivery of high-quality inpatient clinical care within assigned hospital systems in collaboration with TeleSpecialists physicians and telemedicine teams. This role is responsible for conducting patient evaluations, supporting treatment plan execution, facilitating continuity of care, and ensuring timely clinical documentation within a hospital-based environment.

Working closely with both on-site and remote providers, the APP serves as an integral member of the care team and contributes to efficient patient throughput, interdisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to established clinical protocols and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person clinical support for hospital-based patients in coordination with TeleSpecialists physicians and hospital care teams
  • Conduct patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations within scope of practice
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop, implement, and document patient care plans
  • Assist with inpatient admissions, consults, rounding activities, and discharge coordination as appropriate
  • Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and clinical updates accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, and hospital leadership to support coordinated patient care
  • Monitor patient status and communicate significant changes or concerns to supervising physicians promptly
  • Support compliance with hospital protocols, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration to promote continuity of care and positive patient outcomes
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical protocols, workflows, and organizational policies
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and clinical updates as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in the applicable state
  • Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of inpatient, hospital-based, or acute clinical experience preferred
  • Experience in neurology, internal medicine, critical care, or acute care environments preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain hospital credentialing and privileging requirements
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation platforms

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong clinical assessment and patient evaluation skills
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment within scope of practice
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively within both in-person and telemedicine-supported environments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in fast-paced clinical environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care
  • Ability to adapt to evolving workflows, technology, and operational needs
  • Proficiency in computer systems, telehealth platforms, and clinical documentation tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods, often up to 75% of the workday
  • Needs to occasionally move throughout hospital units and patient care areas
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and co-workers in person, over the phone, and via digital platforms
  • Occasionally moves or transports medical supplies, files, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as reviewing patient records, documenting clinical information, and viewing computer monitors for extended periods
