About Wonderland Child & Family Services

Wonderland Child & Family Services is a multi-program, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization serving children from birth through age 12 with developmental delays, disabilities, and prenatal substance exposure. Founded more than 50 years ago, Wonderland’s mission is to provide a strong and equitable foundation for children and their families with diverse needs and abilities to flourish through therapy, education, advocacy, and resources. We reach hundreds of families every month through Early Support programs & services and Hope RISING Clinic for Prenatal Substance Exposure. Our direct service providers are uniquely trained to provide trauma-informed and FASD-informed care.

About the Position

We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join our growing Early Support team. Our Speech-Language Pathologists are responsible for providing evaluation and educational support services for children who are delayed or disabled in a manner impacting their development, thereby reducing the impact of the child’s diagnosis or delay on their skills and abilities. The speech language pathologist also provides coaching, consultation, and training services for caregivers of enrolled children, and is an active participant in our transdisciplinary team of therapists, educators, and family resource coordinators.

Pay and Benefits:

  • This is a part-time position with an hourly rate of $39.00 - $50.00 with the possibility of becoming a full-time role with a starting salary range of $82,000 to $105,000
  • $1000 hiring bonus
  • Role is expected to be 20% remote / 80% in-person, subject to change based on family and agency need

Note: Benefits are available to employees working at least 20 hours per week and costs vary by FTE.

Requirements:
  • MA or MS degree with a valid license in the state of Washington.
  • Valid driver’s license, current insurance and reliable automobile required.
  • Minimum one year of direct service experience with children and families.
  • Knowledge of parent/caregiver coaching; experience preferred.
  • Able to work at a center, in a family’s home, and in a variety of community settings.
  • Current criminal background check maintained for all employees.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Wonderland employees are mandated reporters of any suspected abuse or neglect of a child to DCYF (CPS) and/or law enforcement.
  • Commitment for all employees to work toward including trauma informed care practices in their daily work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer candidate that has Certified of Clinical Competence (C.C.C.) and experience with young children: however, CFY students will be considered.
  • Eligible to provide clinical supervision preferred, but not required.
  • Prefer infant mental health, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing training/experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • WA-AIMH endorsement preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate each child’s performance in all areas of development using instruments and a timetable approved by the agency.
  • Participate in the development of each child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Provide direct and indirect services to children with developmental delays or disabilities in their natural learning environments.
  • Provide coaching and consultation for staff, parents, and care providers.
  • Attend or conduct conferences/consultations with caregivers.
  • Participate as a member of the transdisciplinary team including caregivers and professional staff.
  • Serve as a liaison with the medical and educational community on behalf of enrolled children and their parents/caregivers.
  • Demonstrate a caring, nonjudgmental attitude with every family.
  • Attend scheduled clinical and staff meetings and be an active participant in staff related activities.
  • Prepare written reports and chart notes as required by Wonderland Child & Family Services.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide in-service trainings of staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

This position serves the Lake Washington, Northshore, and Edmonds School Districts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in an office environment, their home, and community settings. This role may occasionally require lifting items up to 30 pounds. The position involves prolonged sitting, reaching above the head, and use of a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day.
