Description

At Premier Marine, we believe people come first and strong execution drives everything we do. As a Senior Production Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring our production system runs at rate, every day. This is not a task-based planning role. This position is responsible for making the production plan executable and protecting it throughout the day. You will operate at the center of production, materials, and scheduling driving alignment and making real-time decisions to keep the operation moving.

Position Summary

The Senior Production Planner is responsible for translating the master schedule into a clear, executable daily plan and ensuring production runs without disruption. This role owns the 0–72 hour execution window, with decision-making responsibility for sequencing, prioritization, and adjustments needed to maintain throughput. Success in this role requires strong floor presence, urgency, and the ability to make decisions under changing conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Schedule Execution & Ownership
  • Convert the master schedule into detailed daily and short-term production plans
  • Own execution of the plan within a 0–72 hour window
  • Adjust sequencing and priorities in real time to protect daily output
  • Drive schedule adherence and ensure production runs to plan
  • This role is accountable for ensuring the plan runs successfully on the floor not just updating it in the system.

Material Readiness & Flow (Short-Term)

  • Ensure material readiness for all scheduled production within the next 24–72 hours
  • Validate part availability prior to job release to eliminate start-of-shift delays
  • Identify shortages early and drive immediate cross-functional resolution
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics to ensure materials are staged and available

Real-Time Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Identify issues that will disrupt production (missing parts, sequencing conflicts, capacity gaps)
  • Make real-time decisions to:
    • Re-sequence production
    • Adjust priorities
    • Swap or delay jobs when needed
  • Escalate only when necessary — expected to own and resolve most execution issues independently

Floor Integration & Communication

  • Act as the primary connection between planning and the shop floor
  • Communicate daily priorities clearly to supervisors and team leads
  • Maintain strong presence on the floor to validate plan vs. actual execution
  • Participate in daily production meetings and align on plan performance

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Drive alignment between:
    • Planning (MPS)
    • Warehouse & inventory
    • Inbound logistics
    • Production leadership
  • Challenge inputs when the plan is not executable
  • Proactively communicate risks and changes to maintain alignment

Execution Discipline & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor key execution metrics:
    • Schedule attainment
    • Start-of-shift readiness
    • Mid-day disruptions tied to planning/material gaps
  • Identify root causes of misses and drive corrective actions
  • Support implementation of standard planning processes and visual controls

Decision Authority & Accountability

  • This role has decision-making responsibility for short-term production sequencing and prioritization
  • Expected to make real-time adjustments to protect throughput
  • Accountable for daily execution of the plan
Requirements:

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3–7+ years in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations
  • Experience in assembly, high-mix, or build-to-order environments preferred
  • Proven experience making decisions in fast-paced production environments

Skills

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Material flow and part readiness
    • Production sequencing and constraints
    • Short-term capacity management
  • ERP/MRP system experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
