What's the Role
As the Assistant Director of Human Resources, you'll play a central role in designing and delivering total rewards and engagement strategies that keep Q Center competitive, compliant, and fiscally responsible. You'll own benefits programs, lead the annual Open Enrollment process from start to finish, support compensation initiatives, and oversee leave management – all while helping to strengthen retention and reinforce our culture.
You'll partner with leaders across the organization, provide guidance to the HR team, and ensure that every HR initiative you lead enhances the associate experience. This role is about strategy AND execution, creating programs that employees love and that drive business success.
What You'll Do to Be Successful
1) Leadership & Departmental Support
- Lead HR initiatives and partner with the Director to drive strategy and operational excellence
- Step in as needed to ensure continuity and smooth day-to-day HR operations
- Collaborate with department heads to enhance associate experience, reinforce culture, and strengthen retention
- Coach and guide the HR team, providing leadership, accountability, and development
2) Human Resources Operations & Compliance
- Own the design, administration, and continuous improvement of total rewards programs including health, welfare, voluntary benefits, leave programs, and compensation support
- Lead Open Enrollment from start to finish, including planning, vendor coordination, communication campaigns, education sessions, and audits
- Ensure HR and benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local laws (ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- Advise managers on policies, compliance, and associate relations matters
- Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and performance
3) Profitability & Performance Optimization
- Analyze benefits and compensation programs to ensure cost-effectiveness and competitive positioning
- Monitor engagement, retention, and workforce trends, providing actionable insights for leadership
- Partner with leaders on workforce forecasting, budget tracking, and total rewards optimization
4) Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Continuously improve HR operations, total rewards processes, and leave management procedures
- Implement HR system enhancements and reporting tools to boost efficiency and data integrity
- Standardize processes to deliver a seamless, consistent experience for associates
5) Leadership & Talent Development
- Coach and mentor HR team members to grow skills, accountability, and performance
- Lead engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and culture-building activities
- Partner with leadership to create an inclusive, high-performing work environment
- Support succession planning and career development programs for associates
What You Bring
We're seeking a strategic HR leader who combines expertise in total rewards, employee engagement, and HR operations with strong business partnership and operational leadership.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 4+ years of progressive HR experience in a full-service hotel, resort, or comparable hospitality environment
- Prior leadership experience in benefits, leave management, compensation, or employee engagement required
- Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and optimizing total rewards programs
- Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and benefits regulations
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Advanced proficiency in HRIS, reporting tools, and benefits platforms
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving, and data-driven decision making skills
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across all organizational levels
- High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality
- Ability to manage both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational execution
The Details
Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Status: Exempt
Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary; extended hours may be required based on business needs
