Job Scope

The Quality Assurance Technician (QAT) Supervisor will oversee the daily workflow of the inspection and calibration departments at the assigned campus. They will oversee the inspection and calibration processes and ensure compliance with Quality System requirements and International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The QAT Supervisor will build a team that fosters teamwork, administers reports and documentation, drives support of Company policies and procedures, maintains good housekeeping through 5S concepts, and enforces all safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures on time delivery by effectively managing throughput, productivity, and staffing levels.
  • Ensure completion of calibration activities and gage availability.
  • Manages the Hot List, attends MRB meetings as needed, and daily production meetings and represents the team and area during audits.
  • Ensures employees in assigned inspections are trained on applicable SOPs, DOPs, Wis and inspections processes are understood and always followed.
  • Promotes and supports continuous process improvement activities.
  • Identifies constraints and devises mitigation plans to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Creates and reports out on department metrics.
  • Collaborates with assigned Quality Engineers to standardize methods and maintain a smooth workflow in QC.
  • Provides employees with the training and tools needed to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Works proactively with other areas and provides support as needed to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Builds productive working relationships with internal and external partners (i.e. planning, quality assurance, production, outside vendors, etc.).
  • Performs time and attendance tasks for assigned employees including maintaining accurate attendance records, approving timecards and time off requests.
  • Executes timely completion of annual performance reviews, following up on progress with one-on-one with each employee at least quarterly, and revising and/or adjusting goals, as necessary.
  • Ensures direct reporting employees understand and follow safety guidelines.
  • Performs investigation of NCMRs and documents such results.
  • Performs inspections as required, focusing on more complicated inspections (FAIs, PPQs, etc.) and creation of inspection plans.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering plus 3 years of experience in inspection or equivalent combination of experience and education, preferred
  • Supervisory experience, 2 years, preferred.
  • Ability to motivate others to work as a team towards a common goal
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook) and reading blueprints.
  • Demonstrated accountability / time management. Must follow through with commitments and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to read, understand and complete all paperwork
  • Knowledge of MRP system to be able to enter electronic transactions, SAP experience preferred
  • Self-motivated; able to work with little supervision
  • Reliable, dependable and honest
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as medical device manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of all Acumed products and processes preferred
