Position Details

Location: Jackson, Mississippi

Compensation: Anticipated hiring range: $80,000–$90,000

Compensation is determined based on experience, leadership scope, and internal equity.

Reports To: Plant Manager

Requirements:

Job Summary

The Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor oversees all shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for quality control, team supervision, scheduling, equipment maintenance, and ensuring efficient day-to-day workflow across the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

Quality Control

• Review all jobs entering the department to confirm required operations are completed.

• Maintain finished goods inventory and ensure accurate product records.

• Ensure all outbound jobs are packed securely and protected from shipping damage; follow ticket packaging instructions or apply best practices when instructions are absent.

• Monitor drivers’ appearance and vehicle condition.

• Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the department; dispose of unnecessary items and organize needed supplies.

Productivity & Scheduling

• Prepare daily delivery and pickup schedules to efficiently utilize available drivers and vehicles; ensure departure times align with schedule requirements.

• Determine optimal shipping methods via commercial carriers; prepare shipping documents and organize pickups as needed.

• Stay current on shipping methods, freight carrier options, postal regulations, and shipping cost trends.

• Coordinate activities with other departments; actively participate in monthly Supervisor meetings and daily production meetings.

• Facilitate information flow between Sales/CSR and Shipping departments.

• Monitor and revise Standard Operating Procedures to address deficiencies or incorporate improved methods.

• Adhere to the production schedule set by the scheduling department; immediately notify scheduling if a deadline cannot be met.

• Organize department layout for efficient workflow, eliminating wasted space and unnecessary items.

• Receive all inbound materials shipped to 1Vision and deliver to the appropriate department.

• Apply all 1Vision receiving procedures to all inbound shipments.

• Supervise the shipment of all waste materials.

• Make personnel available to support other departments during periods of light workload.

Cost & Time Recording

• Ensure accurate recording of time and materials used across the department.

• Conduct spot checks to verify timesheets are kept current.

• Work with the Plant Manager to approve overtime and review timesheet entries particular attention to rework, alterations, and non-chargeable time.

• Minimize wasted time and materials; issue rework authorization forms as required.

Supervision & People Management

• Provide for the safety of all employees; conduct comprehensive safety inspections monthly and remain alert to unsafe practices or conditions at all times.

• Ensure safety equipment is adequate, in good condition, and used as required; correct deficiencies promptly.

• Make recommendations to the Plant Manager regarding hiring, commendations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

• Conduct and document training for new employees and those assigned to new roles; periodically verify training adequacy.

• Foster a respectful, inclusive workplace in compliance with all applicable equal employment opportunity laws and company policies.

Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance

• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all in-plant equipment; maintain adequate spare parts inventory and ensure timely repairs.

• Track mileage of delivery vehicles and schedule preventive maintenance at recommended intervals; spot-check to confirm drivers are conducting required vehicle inspections.

• Recommend vehicle replacements when conditions warrant.

Reporting

Report to the Plant Manager on a regular basis regarding:

• On-time delivery performance relative to schedule.

• Overtime, downtime, absences, and vacation status.

• Issues or irregularities impeding normal workflow.

• Supply requisitions and shortages.

• Disciplinary actions and merit increase recommendations.

• Job-specific challenges or method requirements that differ from original estimates.

• Equipment or facility breakdowns affecting operations.

• Any issues that cannot be resolved within the department or that affect other departments.

• Monarch (experience a plus)
