Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in guest rooms, public areas, and assigned spaces in the hotel. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive guest experience by delivering clean and comfortable accommodations. The Housekeeper must follow hotel cleaning standards and procedures while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • GUEST RELATIONS MANAGEMENT
    • Be readily available and approachable for all guests.
    • Take proactive approached when dealing with guest’s concerns.
    • Extend professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
    • Follows hotel standards for interacting with guests.
    • Maintain guest service as the driving philosophy of the hotel.
    • Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding to guest needs

  • OPERATIONS
    • Knows local health and safety codes and regulations that apply to the hotel.
    • Clean and service assigned guest rooms and public areas according to hotel standards, including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, and replenishing amenities.
    • Ensure all rooms are cleaned and arranged according to established standards, including checking for broken or damaged items and reporting them for repair or replacement.
    • Change linens, towels, and other items as required, ensuring fresh and sanitized materials for each guest.
    • Restock room supplies such as toiletries, coffee, tea, and other amenities.
    • Respond to guest requests in a timely and professional manner, providing additional items or services as needed.
    • Maintain a clean and organized cart, ensuring supplies are adequately stocked before each shift.
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling and use of cleaning products, and report any hazards or safety concerns to management.
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness in hallways, stairwells, public restrooms, and other hotel areas, ensuring an inviting environment.
    • Follow established procedures for handling lost and found items.
    • Ensure confidentiality and security of guest rooms by properly securing doors and reporting any suspicious activity.
    • Report any maintenance issues or damages observed during cleaning to the housekeeping supervisor or maintenance department.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience, including communicating room readiness with the front desk.
  • Follow green and sustainability initiatives, such as conserving water and energy during cleaning processes.
  • Comply with hotel policies and procedures, including dress code and punctuality.

  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Any other duties assigned by the direct or indirect Manager is required by the business operations.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar environment is preferred but not required.
  • High school or GED equivalent

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks within established time frames.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical stamina to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads, as well as the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and various shifts.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude toward guests and team members.
  • A commitment to providing excellent service and ensuring guest satisfaction.
