Location: Lufkin, TX

Schedule: Monday-Friday; generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with flexibility required. Includes a weekend rotation (approximately every seventh weekend) to complete a 40-hour workweek.
Compensation: $43,320 - $44,755 annually, depending on qualifications and experience
Additional Compensation: Travel reimbursement provided

Position Overview

Burke is seeking a MCOT Mental Health Clinician to provide immediate, community-based crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) works collaboratively with Burke staff and community partners to deliver rapid assessment, screening, and intensive interventions aimed at de-escalating crises and, when possible, diverting unnecessary psychiatric hospitalization.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, timely documentation, flexibility, and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations. The MCOT Mental Health Clinician reports to the MCOT Service Director and routinely travels within Burke's service region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to mental health crises in the community and provide immediate clinical intervention

  • Conduct screening, assessment, and crisis evaluations for individuals in need

  • Implement intensive, short-term interventions to de-escalate crises

  • Assist individuals in accessing inpatient care or connecting with appropriate community resources when needed

  • Collaborate with Burke staff, law enforcement, hospitals, and other community partners

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation

  • Participate in scheduled weekend rotation coverage

  • Travel routinely within the service area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation, or another Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements.

Experience
Preferred: Six (6) months of direct care experience working with children and/or adults in a behavioral health or mental health setting, including experience with crisis evaluation and intervention.

Licenses & Additional Requirements
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an insurable driving record

  • Reliable personal vehicle

  • Ability to complete required training, including Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggressive Behavior (SAMA), CPR/First Aid, and Defensive Driving

Preferred License:
Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to drive routinely within the service area

  • Hand and finger dexterity for documentation and routine tasks
