Reporting to the Program Manager, the selected candidate will assist with outdoor activities, field trips, and community outings. Responsibilities include facilitating age-appropriate activities (arts and crafts, sports, games, educational projects), preparing and distributing snacks and meals while following dietary restrictions, and promoting healthy eating habits. The candidate will also accompany children on field trips, ensuring safety and providing an educational experience. Maintaining a safe environment during camp hours, following safety protocols, and communicating with parents about their child's progress will be essential.
The ideal candidate has completed a high school diploma or equivalent, with post-secondary education in child development, education, or a related field. Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred. The candidate should possess the ability to plan and execute creative, engaging activities tailored to different age groups. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are essential, as the role requires working effectively with colleagues to create a positive and enjoyable camp experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, alongside strong organizational and time-management abilities. A commitment to maintaining a safe environment for children and the ability to handle unexpected challenges with a positive, proactive attitude is also required.
This is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Qualified candidates must be:
- Aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent Resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
