Position Title: Security Officer
Department: Security
Reports To: Security Sergeant
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: Guards, patrols, or monitors premises to prevent theft and violence, while performing customer service duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Protects the lives, safety, and property of customers, employees, vendors, and the corporation.
- Promotes positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
- Remains alert to potential losses by risk, theft, and/or destruction.
- Patrols and assigns patrol over the physical facilities of the Corporation.
- Monitors doors to welcome guests and check guests upon exit.
- Escorts and removes unruly or unwanted customers, employees, and guests from the facilities.
- Provides the corporation with detailed incident reports.
- Reports all safety hazards and risks to the Safety Manager or designee.
- Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate degree preferred. Law enforcement experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: State Certified Law Enforcement Officer (CLEET Certification) preferred. Must be able to obtain gaming license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees, patrons, management, and directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to handle the stress of a security position.
