Position Summary
This role is responsible for the operations and maintenance on RED’s industrial water, boilers, compressed air, and steam distribution systems within Eastman Business Park. This would include, but is not limited to starting and stopping equipment, making adjustments as needed to online units both manually and via the distributive controls system (DCS), and unloading chemicals used in water treatment and testing. This role is required to follow and enforce company procedures to maintain a safe workplace and comply with regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform routine boiler room, refrigeration and water treatment systems equipment inspections and performance including documentation of operational data, checking and adjusting of controls on equipment as necessary.
- Oversee the proper operation of the water treatment plant, boilers, turbines, and distribution systems with the shift operations teams, ensuring all teams adhere to the proper procedures & guidelines
- Assist with repairs as needed on all equipment and distribution systems piping.
- Conduct sampling and testing of chemical treatment systems including the unloading of bulk chemicals.
- Provide operating support for equipment shutdowns and startups including securing of equipment using standard LO/TO procedures.
- Assist with maintaining equipment in a clean and operable condition.
- Assist with the development and updates of standard operating procedures.
- Maintenance duties as needed including refrigerant handling, leak repair, pump packing adjustments, etc.
- Provide operating support for overhead distribution piping systems.
- Other duties as assigned such administrative, proper record keeping, inspections, etc.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
Experience desired
2 years of experience at lower-level operator/mechanic position, knowledge of refrigeration systems, cooling towers, water treatment plant, piping systems, building structures and steam turbines helpful.
Work Environment
Location: Eastman Business Park, Rochester, NYSchedule: This role is performed on a rotating shift assignment schedule. The rotation consists of two (2) days (6:00am – 6:00pm) then two nights (6:00pm to 6:00am) followed by four (4) days off. This is a non-exempt hourly position with overtime. Setting: Work may be under extreme weather conditions including hot and cold ambient temperatures. Incumbent will be required to travel between various buildings and work in the various plant environment where there is a moderate noise level. Employee is expected to adhere to the personal protective equipment policy for each location they will perform work. Travel: Limited to travel within the park grounds, as required. Physical Demands- While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to bend, walk, or carry equipment.
- Employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to learn DCS (distributive control systems), Ovation control systems for shift operations within a short period after hire.
- Must have a valid NYSDOT drivers’ license and proof of insurance.
Upon Hire
RED-Rochester will assist the selected candidate with obtaining the following licenses and/or certifications:
- City of Rochester S-3 Stationary Engineers License within 14 months after starting this position.
- City of Rochester R-4 Refrigeration Operators License within 18 months after starting this position.
- NYSDOH 2a Water Treatment Operator certification within 16 months after starting this position.
- US-EPA Refrigerant Handling Universal License within 12 months after starting this position.
Education
High school diploma, or GED required.
Compensation
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, RED-Rochester provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $19.00 to $27.00 per hour. This position is also eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus program.
