Position Overview

Linea Energy is seeking an experienced Development Engineer to join our Project Execution team. In this role, your responsibilities will cover a broad scope of technical services for solar, battery, and wind projects. This role will require providing support for project ranging across the entire project lifecycle (greenfield to operational), however the majority of your time will be focused on projects in the late-stage development to NTP phase. The role will require the use of a wide skillset across the range of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Civil), cost estimating, energy modelling, and contracting. The ideal candidate will bring a generalist mindset towards solving the wide-ranging technical challenges (predictable and otherwise) inherent with utility-scale renewable project development and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Project Technical Evaluation: responsible for the technical evaluation workflow for Solar, BESS, and Wind projects. Specifically: Determination of appropriate system configuration within a given set of spatial constraints, local requirements, and environmental conditions (hydrology, geotech, wind, hail, corrosion, etc), The way in which the above characteristics affect system design and layout, and subsequently factor into energy production and build costs. Performance Engineering support Energy model development Micrositing and layout support Solar, BESS, and Wind energy production estimates PPA performance guarantee risk assessment System performance variability and probability of exceedance analysis CAPEX modeling Project build cost estimating for Solar PV, BESS, and Wind facilities Schedule building and Cash Forecasting Technical-investor interface: transaction support for structured finance Communication interface between relevant project stakeholders (Owner, IE, EPC, and Lenders) Coordinating completion of general technical due diligence checklists Supporting Independent Engineer requests EPC engagement support: Representing Owner requirements for project specifications. Defining project basis of design Interacting with engineering counterparties (i.e. EPC, EoR, and suppliers) to ensure requirements are met for optimal project design. Reviewing and negotiating technical exhibits within the EPC Agreement Supporting EPC RFP process Manage and respond to technical RFIs Coordination of Owner’s Engineering service providers Supply Chain and Procurement Support Supplier Evaluation & Equipment Bankability Due Diligence (PV modules, Batteries, Inverters, Trackers, Wind Turbine Generators, MPTs, HV Breakers) Supply Chain QA/QC service provider scoping and coordination Test Lab coordination for PV module accelerated lifetime stress testing Technology roadmap development based on aggregation of industry information Sourcing forward cost curves from qualified industry reports Inventory Management as needed Development Support: Review project constraints throughout the development process and provide final review and approval of constraints prior to an EPC RFP Preparing preliminary project designs Supporting project developers with development-stage technical deliverables (geotech, hydrology, wind/solar met campaigns, RFP questionnaires, etc) Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance teams to implement performance improvement recommendations. Asset Management feedback loop: Engaging with engineering teams on design improvements for future projects based on feedback from operational experience.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or related technical field 5+ years of experience in the renewable energy sector Demonstrated expertise in analyzing solar, wind, and/or battery storage system performance Energy Modeling software experience: PVsyst, PlantPredict, windPRO , etc. Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and performance factors Proficiency with data analysis tools and performance monitoring systems Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with predictive analytics and machine learning applications in energy Strong written and verbal communication abilities
