Description:

biBerk is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. To support continued growth, we are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to partner with development, infrastructure, and security teams in building and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly automated cloud delivery solutions.

This is a senior-level role focused primarily on Microsoft Azure, including Azure DevOps, Terraform, Bicep, and Azure-native platform services. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in Azure infrastructure automation, application delivery, and DevOps engineering, along with a strong understanding of cloud networking and security concepts. Experience with AWS is valued as additional cloud engineering experience, but Azure is the organization’s current and primary cloud platform.

This is a hybrid-remote role that currently requires 2 days of in-office work per month in Pittston, PA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement, and enhance CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for application and infrastructure deployments.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, Azure Bicep, and PowerShell.
  • Build and support reusable infrastructure patterns for Azure environments, with awareness of broader multi-cloud design principles.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to support the build, deployment, and operational support of modern web applications, APIs, and platform services.
  • Apply a strong application development background to improve build, release, deployment, and configuration management processes.
  • Manage and improve existing Azure DevOps pipelines and deployment workflows.
  • Oversee and troubleshoot Azure PaaS and platform services used across the organization.
  • Support secure cloud design and deployment practices with strong understanding of networking, identity, access management, secrets management, and environment security.
  • Partner with development and security teams to improve deployment reliability, operational maturity, and overall security posture.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to other DevOps engineers.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, operational support, and continuous improvement of DevOps and cloud engineering practices.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience working in Azure-based environments.
  • Strong background in application development and delivery, including understanding of how modern applications are built, configured, deployed, and supported.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking and security concepts, including DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls, identity, secrets, certificates, and secure connectivity.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering and developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to improve delivery speed, scripting, code quality, troubleshooting, and documentation while maintaining sound engineering judgment, security practices, and review standards.
  • Proven experience mentoring team members and contributing to technical leadership efforts.

Required Technology Experience:

Senior level proficiency in:

  • Azure DevOps build and release pipelines for deploying code and infrastructure as code
  • YAML-based pipeline development and reusable pipeline templating
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Managing and scaling Azure Managed DevOps Pools
  • Terraform for Azure infrastructure provisioning and management
  • Creating, managing, and deploying Azure Bicep templates
  • Cloud networking and security concepts across application and infrastructure layers
  • Building and deploying .NET applications, Angular applications, and containerized applications using Azure DevOps
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools in support of software delivery, infrastructure as code authoring, scripting, troubleshooting, and engineering documentation
  • Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure Key Vault, Azure Logic Apps
  • Azure CDN Profiles, Azure Front Door, Azure Application Gateway
  • Azure Cosmos DB, Azure App Configuration, Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus
  • DNS and Microsoft Entra ID

Preferred Technology Experience:

  • Azure Application Insights
  • Azure Data Factory
  • SQL Server 2016 or newer
  • Performance tuning and cost optimization of Azure environments
  • Experience with AWS as additional cloud engineering experience
  • Experience with multi-cloud concepts and cloud portability considerations
  • Experience with DevSecOps, monitoring, logging, and operational tooling
  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Additional Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004), Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional, AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The starting salary for this position is $100,000 - 130,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
