About the Role:
The 2nd Shift, Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-2:30am, Manual Welder plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by performing high-quality welding tasks during the evening shift to support continuous production. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure that all welded components meet strict quality and safety standards. The welder will work closely with the production team to interpret blueprints, select appropriate welding techniques, and complete assemblies efficiently. The role demands adherence to safety protocols and the ability to troubleshoot welding issues to minimize downtime. Ultimately, the position contributes to the overall success of the manufacturing operation by delivering durable and reliable welded products on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a manual welder in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
- Capability to work the 2nd shift schedule reliably.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized welding program (e.g., AWS Certified Welder).
- Experience with multiple welding processes including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Familiarity with welding inspection tools and non-destructive testing methods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor equipment repairs.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform manual welding operations using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to accurately complete assigned tasks.
- Inspect welded components for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain a safe work environment.
Skills:
The required skills enable the welder to accurately interpret blueprints and apply appropriate welding techniques to produce high-quality welds consistently. Safety knowledge is essential to prevent accidents and maintain a secure work environment during the 2nd shift. Preferred skills such as certification and experience with multiple welding processes enhance the welder's versatility and ability to handle complex tasks. Mechanical aptitude supports the daily maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment, reducing downtime.
