Pay Range
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The Associate Category Manager – Indirect is responsible for managing indirect products and services (IT, HR, CapEx, MRO, etc) across the enterprise at Johns Manville. The Associate Category Manager assist in the development of contracts and manages supplier relationships to ensure JM maintains a competitive manufacturing cost position, minimizes risk, and delivers value in support of Johns Manville business strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination, development, and implementation of sourcing strategies (Annual spend with vary based on role)
- Assist in the development and implementation of cost reduction, risk mitigation, and value creation projects and establish and update monthly scorecard metrics and updates.
- In collaboration with the relevant internal stakeholders, own and execute RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations for Services, Construction, IT, and Indirect Materials, ensuring favorable commercial and risk outcomes.
- Build high‑impact internal stakeholder and external supplier partnerships through deep alignment with business needs and priorities, proactive engagement, and supplier collaboration.
- Participate (and coordinate as applicable) in supplier meetings, and business reviews
- Manage indirect and CapEx purchasing activity in SAP ECC (Including PO creation), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and appropriate stakeholder input
- Develop, coordinate, negotiate, and manage contracts to ensure compliance, value realization, and alignment with operational needs.
- Maintain a forward‑looking sourcing calendar that ensures timely renewals, competitive bidding, and proactive risk mitigation.
- Leads small tasks/projects successfully that involve interactions with cross-functional resources.
- Exposed to and pursuing JM Leadership Attributes
- Help resolve basic supply or service issues in coordination with stakeholders.
- Support Berkshire Hathaway spend leverage initiatives and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements (Education, Skills and Abilities):
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in sourcing with a major company
- CPSM certification desirable
- Working knowledge of category management
- Fundamental contract negotiation skills
- Fundamental knowledge of contract development and contract law
- Must have ability to manage supplier relationships
- Fundamental knowledge of E-Sourcing
- Fundamental knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems, Ariba or similar contract management system, and Aravo or similar 3rd Party Risk Management system.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Travel approximately 10%
