Company Overview:
We are a 17-store convenience store chain, nine of which have automatic car washes. We pride ourselves on operational excellence, community commitment, and high standards across all facets of the business. Our stores feature a mix of traditional C-store offerings and advanced food service and beverage equipment. We are seeking a skilled, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance efforts and uphold the integrity of our physical assets.
Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing maintenance operations across all stores and car wash locations. This individual will lead a team of maintenance technicians and directly manage preventative and corrective maintenance of mission-critical store systems and equipment. This includes convenience store-specific equipment such as fountain pop machines, bean-to-cup coffee machines, automatic tank gauges (ATGs), walk-in coolers/freezers, fuel systems, and food service equipment.
We are looking for a proactive leader with an "owner's mentality" — someone who treats every store as their own, leads by example, and takes pride in keeping facilities safe, operational, and customer-ready. This position requires flexibility, accountability, and the ability to respond promptly to after-hours emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Oversight
- Lead, train, and schedule a team of in-house Maintenance Technicians.
- Serve as primary point of contact for complex or escalated maintenance issues.
- Coach team members to prioritize safety, efficiency, and ownership in their work.
- Work with outside vendors and 3rd party contractors for outside maintenance
- Contribute to store remodels, acquisitions and new builds from a facility stand point
Equipment & Systems Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance and repairs of specialized C-store and franchise equipment including:
- Underground Storage tanks, fuel dispensers and automatic tank gauges
- Food service equipment including ovens, refrigeration, warmers, etc
- Refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers and freezers
- Maintenance of equipment utilized to execute job duties, including vehicles, trailers and other equipment necessary to maintain facilities and equipment within them.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules for all store systems.
- Conduct periodic inspections and audits of equipment, lighting, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- Oversee car wash maintenance, preventative maintenance, outside vendor, chemical
- Environmental testing, compliance, etc
Project & Vendor Management
- Coordinate vendor relationships, contracts, and performance monitoring for outsourced services.
- Assist in capital project planning and renovations related to facilities.
- Oversee the sourcing and procurement of inventory, tools, parts, and replacement equipment.
Administrative & Operational
- Ability to use Excel, Word, etc. Technical and computer skills are helpful in many areas such as pumps, car washes and site level tech items like ATG, etc.
- Maintain a centralized database or software system to track maintenance tickets, schedules, and equipment lifecycles.
- Prepare and manage the maintenance department's operating budget.
- Maintain inventory control of critical replacement parts.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, fire, health, and environmental safety codes.
On-Call and Emergency Response
- Serve as the lead on-call responder for after-hours and weekend emergencies (shared responsibility with team).
- Create and manage an on-call schedule that balances responsiveness with technician wellbeing.
- Winter snow plowing (shared responsibility) based on size of snow and timeline
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years in a facility maintenance role, including leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of underground Storage Tank fuel systems, C-store specific equipment is a plus but can also be trained on the job.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues independently.
- Ability to utilize work order systems, basic Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel to all store locations.
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain (required for towing trailers and driving 1-ton trucks for commercial use). Hazardous materials endorsement is a desirable to oversee bulk truck division
