About This Position

The Communications Intern will assist the Public Information Officer (PIO) in supporting the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority’s (CRDA) communication strategy. This role offers hands-on experience in public relations, media outreach, and content creation for various platforms. This intern will gain exposure to government communications and community engagement initiatives.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with the Public Information Officer, write and/or design a variety of print and electronic collateral, including but not limited to:
  • Marketing collateral
  • Social media (posts and graphics)
  • Website CMS: landing pages, blog posts,
  • E-marketing and Newsletters
  • Assist in analyzing website, social media and email metrics Create messaging and write communications on topics including land use, development, tourism, etc.Focus on social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter) Write press releases and proactively pitch media Create and edit videos and postings for social media Take photos at various programs and eventsParticipate in team meetings and brainstorms Perform other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications:

    Pursuing a bachelor’s degree (Junior or Senior year preferred) Strong journalistic writing skills and knowledge of AP style Ability to multitask and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Windows suite software and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite Excellent writing, editing and verbal communications skills with ability to alternate between styles and tones Flexible work schedule and availability to attend events Self-starter, able to work independentlyEnjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
    This is a paid internship ($15.92/hour) with a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week from May through August.
