Position Title: Assistant School Sites Director
Reports To: School Sites Director
Status: Full-time
Classification: Non-exempt
Location: Multi-Site-Newhall School District Elementary Sites
Schedule: Mon-Friday, 9am-6pm but hours will vary
Position Summary:
The Assistant Director plays a key leadership support role across multiple school-based sites, working in partnership with the School Sites Director to ensure high-quality programming, staff development, safety, and alignment with Club and district expectations. This role serves as a connector between program strategy and frontline implementation, offering day-to-day operational support and proactive leadership presence at sites.
Key Responsibilities
Support Site Oversight
• Assist the School Sites Director with daily oversight of multiple Club sites within the Newhall School District.
• Regularly visit sites to monitor operations, provide feedback, and ensure program alignment with expectations and goals.
Staff Supervision & Development
• Provide coaching and guidance to Site Coordinators and frontline staff.
• Conduct informal and formal check-ins, document performance concerns, and participate in staff evaluations.
• Model effective youth development practices and support onboarding for new staff.
Program Improvement
• Collaborate with the CQI Specialist to review site data (attendance, engagement, survey results) and improve programming.
• Partner with Site Coordinators to adjust activities, transitions, and behavior management systems based on youth needs.
Community Relations
• Serve as a Club representative at school and community meetings when needed.
• Address parent and school concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with school personnel and district contacts.
Quality & Safety Oversight
• Conduct regular site walk-throughs to assess safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
• Monitor implementation of safety protocols including headcounts, supervision standards, and emergency drills.
• Support and ensure adherence to Club-wide behavior and discipline policies.
Administrative Support
• Assist with grant-related documentation, attendance tracking, and other reporting requirements.
• Support supply ordering, site budgets, financial forms, and reimbursement processes.
• Help manage logistics such as transportation coordination and facility use.
Schedule Flexibility
• Serve as on-site leadership support during high-need times, staff absences, or emergencies.
• Be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and school breaks as needed.
Compliance
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Club policies, licensing requirements, and district expectations.
• Ensure consistent staff adherence to Club standards including programming structure, dress code, and required documentation.
Reporting & Communication
• Provide timely updates to the School Sites Director regarding staff performance, incidents, and operational needs.
• Submit written site visit reports and follow up on coaching conversations with documented outcomes.
Special Projects
• Assist in launching new sites or initiatives as assigned.
• Support planning and facilitation of staff training, orientations, and special events.
• Other duties as assigned
Safety
• Enforces all safety policies and procedures of the Club
• Ensures all safety, compliance and BGCA training is completed by staff and enforces compliance
• Upholds all safety policies and procedures, including supervision protocols, emergency preparedness, and behavior management guidelines.
• Must remain vigilant in monitoring member interactions, preventing bullying, and addressing any potential health hazards or unsafe situations promptly and appropriately.
• Monitor incident reporting and collaborate with supervisors and guardians.
• Ensures physical and emotional well-being of members is being monitored by staff.
Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, recreation, or related field – OR equivalent experience required.
• 2+ years of experience in youth development, out-of-school time programs, or education supervision.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel, walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond calmly in fast-paced environments.
• Experience coaching and developing part-time or seasonal staff strongly preferred.
• Must be flexible, organized, and passionate about creating high-impact programs for youth.
