CRYO PDP Director of Business Development

Job Description

The Director of Business Development will lead strategic growth initiatives for CRYOPDP, Part of DHL Health Logistics, a temperature-controlled logistics company specializing in cold chain transportation, warehousing, and distribution. This role is responsible for expanding market share, developing high-value client partnerships, and delivering compliant, end-to-end cold chain solutions that meet stringent regulatory and quality requirements.

In addition, this role will directly manage and develop a small team of business development and sales professionals, driving performance and supporting pipeline growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy targeting pharmaceutical, biotech, and clinical research organizations.
  • Identify growth opportunities across segments including biologics, vaccines, clinical trials, and specialty therapeutics.
  • Monitor industry trends such as cell & gene therapy logistics and direct-to-patient distribution
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in pharma, biotech, and CRO organizations.
  • Lead complex RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations.
  • Design tailored cold chain solutions (2–8°C, -20°C, -80°C, cryogenic).
  • Ensure all solutions align with FDA, GDP, and global regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Quality teams on validation, audits, and SOP alignment.
  • Support client audits and quality agreements during the sales process.
  • Directly manage, coach, and develop a small team of business development and sales professionals.
  • Set individual and team sales targets, KPIs, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions.
  • Drive a high-performance, accountability-focused sales culture.
  • Own and grow a robust sales pipeline with a focus on long, consultative sales cycles.
  • Oversee lead generation, qualification, and conversion strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing to align demand generation efforts.
  • Improve sales processes within Salesforce to improve win rates.
  • Build strategic partnerships across the pharmaceutical supply chain.
  • Expand relationships with manufacturers, 3PLs, and technology providers.
  • Work closely with operations and quality assurance teams.
  • Translate client requirements into scalable, compliant solutions Financial Ownership.
  • Drive revenue growth and ensure profitability of new business.
  • Identify and prioritize high value opportunities.
  • Contribute to pricing strategies, forecasting, and contract structuring.
  • Monitor and improve KPI's Revenue Growth, Gross Margin, and Pipeline Opportunities.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or related field, required.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical logistics or life sciences supply chain, preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading sales/business development teams, required.
  • Proven track record of closing complex deals within pharma/biotech, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GDP, FDA, and global compliance standards, preferred.
  • Experience in clinical trial logistics, biologics, or cell & gene therapy, preferred.
  • Established network within pharmaceutical and biotech industries, preferred.
